When I went to the DMV site to schedule my license renewal, I was pretty bummed I didn't have to solve a CAPTCHA. That's the one place it would have made sense to have to identify a bunch of stop signs or crosswalks.

Do one of the things that makes you feel better, because if you aren't doing any of that, you will run down. Today I did some writing. I'm a writer, & if I don't write, I run down. Here in the Twin Cities, it feels very different from 2020. After the murder of George Floyd, the enemies were abstractions: institutional racism, police violence - plus we were mad at the kids looting the post office. Today, the enemy is clear: ICE is the enemy. The goal: Get ICE out.

There's also been a shift in character in activism. In Trump's first term, the big actions were symbolic protests designed to make a narrative impact. In Trump's second term, we are seeing actions designed to practically frustrate an authoritarian crackdown on civil liberties.

You don’t know your role yet maybe, but we are all finding out just what we have to offer. In Minneapolis, one man knew immediately what he could offer and said “Bring me your clothing”.

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.
