this boils down to "the pandemic didn't actually happen but they still closed the applebees" which frankly i think is a trauma response by a lot of people that buy it - lot easier to be in denial that things were that bad instead of reckoning with 1.3m dead people [in this country]

After intensive discussion I have concluded that it is necessary to build an entire Potemkin internet exactly as it appeared in 2005. You get Wikipedia, forums, news sites, whatever, but no short form video, social media, or AI. When you graduate college you get the password to the real Internet.
