Just read that I am the only white man on science fiction bookshelves at the moment because I ingratiated myself to the woke establishment and also I've sabotaged every award in SF/F so I am the only white man who ever gets nominated anymore, damn, I'm, like, just, vicious and calculating, how rude

Where is the evidence that Trump actually wants to rebuild US manufacturing, and how is destroying solar power in the US going to achieve that? It’s stunning how media normalizes and whitewashes Trump‘s efforts to destroy the US.

Bloomberg News@bloomberg.com · 12h ago

President Trump’s latest move to shun foreign solar power equipment is part of his effort to rebuild US manufacturing clout. It may simultaneously exacerbate the fast-widening green technology split between the US and the rest of the world.

They had contracted Blue Angels for 43 years; 43 years The owner says she never received a personal notice that Hegseth was canceling her or any reminder that her contract renewal was coming up This is how the Trump administration treats people, especially Black people

Ambassador Ken Fairfax (ret)@portlandken.bsky.social · yesterday

Tales of everyday corruption. Pete Hegseth cancelled the $400,000 contract for making uniforms for the Blue Angels on the grounds that the contract with "The Sewing Box" was DEI since the firm is Black-owned. Instead, he awarded it to a Trump donor for $1,690,000, a 325% price increase!

Assume a coup attempt in 2028-29. Not a guarantee, but it’d be naively complacent not to take it as a very serious possibility, and prepare in advance. Because we already saw them try a coup when they were in a weaker position. Armed takeover of DC might not only be coup prep, but it’s coup prep.

So Trump is now saying the "ballroom" is actually "the desperately needed Military Center, required for the National Security of Washington, D.C., and our Country, itself" He's also extended soldiers in D.C. until Jan. 20, 2029, his last day It's impossible to not to imagine the very worst

Sometimes I see something in nature and then spend the next several years waiting for the shot. Sometimes I never get it. Sometimes you see it and a week later you land it: I give you tonight's murder of crows in front of the sunset. 🪶

more people should take guys saying " i'm joining the women's sports league" "i'm entering the lesbian bar" as an opportunity to directly inject that person with estrogen. in the best case that girl comes out. otherwise, that guy runs away. a man's deepest fear is becoming woman

This is a thing that a lot of us tried to tell you, way back in 2014: Body-worn cameras alone will not create more transparency and accountability *If It Is The People Wearing The Cameras Who Get To Decide When And How To Release The Footage.* THIS SHOULD NOT BE UP TO THEM.

Senator Mark Warner@markwarner.bsky.social · yesterday

Equipping ICE officers with body cameras is supposed to provide transparency and accountability. If footage is only released when it’s “in the best interests of the agency,” it’s not doing either.

Ive been saying this for a while, when you see the hype around "AI" through a disability studies lens, you really do see that so much of the hype and fantasies are about defeating death, but also "curing/conquering" disability. Many powerful people in SV are aging, and it terrifies them.

I think the “disease classes” these bros want to cure is “death”—specifically theirs. Everything in this part of the machine learning space feels less like innovation and more like “C’mon! Hurry up! We only have a few decades left to become immortal!” So, about that “time”….

Sometimes I’m reminded that many people still assume that the United States is still overwhelmingly the global leader and innovator in drone technology (both military and civilian), and hoo boy

we had the american model of tv (one million episodes a season with some crap inevitably ending up in there) and we had a british model of tv (3 episodes a season but each one's pretty good) and somehow streaming ended up with the worst of both parts (3 dogwater eps in an 8 episode season)

I do not want to download your app. I just want lunch. I do not want to create an account. I just want lunch. I do not want to setup 2FA. I just want lunch. I do not want to 'earn points'. I just want lunch. I do not want to add to my order. I just want lunch. I JUST WANT LUNCH!

Whether the movies are good or not, I like it when The People determine what the true title is for a film. SEX PURGE. SPACE JAIL. THE BEACH THAT MAKES YOU OLD.

FWIW: much of the time when a group announces "plans to spend $15m" on a buzzy topic, what they actually mean is that they're going to tap into the buzzy topic to try to raise $15m that they do not currently have. this is not a plan, it's a fundraising pitch to panicking donors

Elon Musk says he's going to have a robot workforce on the moon soon. "Third Way" centrist Democrats say they're going to spend $15 million to fight the specter of socialism. Sure, sure. Assholes say a lot of things.
