If you peruse the comments the phrase 'one cheerleader short of a Pentagon' is incredible and will now enter general usage.
It's helpful that every so often Polanski reminds us that while he's obviously far better than any of the current alternatives, he's still pretty shit and we shouldn't make the mistake of getting too excited about him.

Got turned down for a job after a (third-round) interview. They said "we were looking for someone who would pick up [programming language] quicker", which feels kind of frustrating because I honestly don't know what that would have looked like in the three hours of using that language I've had.

if a muslim immigrant wrote an article stating he wanted to rape british schoolchildren (as liddle did) the press now praising liddle would be outraged. not on behalf of any potential danger to children, though, they don't care about that. they'd be outraged at the writer not knowing his place
Still wild to me how many read 'I Sexually Identify as an Attack Helicopter' - a story about those in power using gender to enforce desired patterns of (violent) behaviour on others, and those others struggling to process that - and concluded "this author knows nothing of the trans experience".

Finally saw The Odyssey, which is the consummate Christopher Nolan film in that it has moments of near-sublime spectacle that make you believe in Big Movies again mixed together with dialogue like, "Our Age of Bronze is ending."
Went to see that there Odyssey they have now and as soon as it started this tweet sprang into my mind for the first time in years.
it is hard to convey the terror i feel every day and how much metabolic stress and damage is constantly brutalizing my body and the body of every homeless person moving through a world where we are not seen as people or part of society.
