North West UK He/Him Sometimes paints miniatures, or posts pictures of cats, or talks about films/books, works in 'data' Some sort of leftist

Almost *everything* you see in this format, whether infinite power cubes or solar powered houses for the homeless that fold out of suitcases or French "bread libraries" for the poor is liberal catnip bullshit by content farms. Stop being idiots. Thank you.

If someone was aggressive and unpleasant to people they didn’t know / never met, but also really nice to their close friends, I’m not sure the second thing makes the first thing OK. It’s a bit of a low fucking bar, to be honest. It’s hardly worth celebrating. “Was nice to eight selected people.”

"ADHD people should have spoken out for trans people, now they're coming for YOU!" "No trans people should have spoken out for ADHD people, now they're coming for YOU!" - a FUCKING STUPID discourse even when it's not about two of the most overlapping marginalised groups ever, fuck off

Hey, if you know Blackpool or care about Blackpool etc, do you mind sending rude messages to Visit Blackpool about the AI slop display they're planning to put up as part of the Illuminations this year? This is especially infuriating because Blackpool's trying to become more of a town for artists

As I've said before, the biggest damage to a sense of pop music history was that the Boomers came up at the same time as the switch from 78s to 45s so all the radio stations threw out their Louis Jordan records and an "oldie" was something from the last five years.

The way the history of pop was warped by boomer criticism/historiography into a hard dividing line between a supposed glop past and Elvis-and-everything-after with a rock focus was a massive reductive mistake that is still playing out.

I wonder what percentage of the (broadly defined) "content" we see nowadays is basically kayfabe: people trying to come up with something that'll make a fuss, but that they don't fundamentally believe or even really care about. I bet it's really high. like, "not ideal for a functioning society" high

It really irritates me that, despite the news being full of reports of drought and wildfires, almost all the weather forecast presenters adopt a jolly, upbeat tone when talking about 'fine, dry weather' and a slightly glum tone when mentioning the odd places where there will be a few showers.

Rereading Lord of the Rings yet again, and I bet it’s weird for people who watched the movies many times first before starting the books to learn that Haldir (the elf they run into when they enter Lorien) isn’t actually a massive dickhead.

i am just so so so so so sick of reacting to things. it's like the entire internet now is just a machine for generating pure reaction, here's a Take, here's a Main Character, it's time to Contribute to the Discourse and draw Lines in the Sand between Good (me) and Evil (someone who's kinda annoying)
