Rude Law Dog@esghound.com · 3d agoa mistake a lot of first time parents make is not taking babies places early on while they're still immobile and will sleep 18 hours per day and in almost any environment, especially if being held. Take your baby to a basketball game or the Odyssey or happy hour, you'll regret not doing so by age 1

One of those weird paradox of choice things where I used to be fine seeing Frasier as a kid because I got some of the jokes and there was a dog and it was what was on versus now where no matter what I watch I know there’s something better I should be watching

I expect that I will eventually, maybe even soon, get a tech job, but I'll also never feel secure about my "career" ever again. I used to think maybe one day I could retire comfortably, but now my ambitions extend about as far as not dying of exposure after I'm too old to work or get hired again

I agree strongly with this -- in that difficult moment, the possibility of collective effort was conceivable. Not everybody felt it, but many did. I think the political class did not like this one bit.
Dave Andress@davidandress.bsky.social · 4d agoCovid lockdowns demonstrated, in a deeply imperfect way, the possibility of large-scale social solidarity for a higher cause. That is a prime reason why so many powerful people want us to run screaming away from them into the comforting arms of selfish individualist competition.
I don’t think there’s going to be a nostalgia market for the 2020s
