I would only trade our Devon lifestyle for a palazzo in Venice, or a Villa on the Venice Lido.

Russia has attacked the Chornomorets Stadium in Odesa. Several people were injured. What do you say to that, Infantino? Still want to allow russians back?
The summer of 1540 was an extreme summer at the time and formed part of an 11 month drought with frequent heatwaves across Europe. Here’s how both June & July compare to what, at the time, was a catastrophic weather event.
Well, aren't we a fickle lot. Remember this, and it was probably true ? -
Well here's a comparison that certainly doesn't work for me, from Prospect - '... our oceans have absorbed 90 per cent of the heat generated by anthropogenic climate change. That’s equivalent to pouring 7.6bn mugs of tea into the ocean' What's that in steam train boilers ?

It should be pretty obvious from Meg's images that this Lunula alone is very much worth a visit to the splendid @penleehousegallery.bsky.social when you are next out very west. I fully recommend the entire gallery.

"If Count Binface were elected as the MP for Clacton, it would become one of the biggest political stories on Earth. Television networks, newspapers, YouTubers, podcasters and comedians from around the world would descend on the town ... You cannot buy publicity on that scale." via Raymond James

This is.. bad. Recent ECM forecasts are suggesting a “very extreme” wildfire risk for next week as heatwaves return. Extremely dry vegetation will allow any fires that do get started to spread extremely rapidly. This is about as high-end extreme as it gets for the UK.
I'd love to credit whoever wrote this. No idea. But I'm 100% with its message. When I think of how the '80s ethos, "Greed is Good" has metastasized, it surprises and depresses me. Imagine having so many millions, hundred of millions, even billions & caring about nothing except your own vanity.
Asked if King Charles is a “white Briton”, Rupert Lowe tells the Today programme “many people have different interpretations of that, we can split hairs…you try and whitewash all of the things that are happening.”
