The Stanford Prison Experiment is taught in psychology classes as what NOT to do. The professor leading the experiment interfered directly when he wasn't getting the results he wanted, ordering the "guard" students to be more cruel and encouraging the meanest of them. It's thoroughly discredited.

Netflix has announced a new reality series titled ‘THE NEW STANFORD PRISON EXPERIMENT’. The series follows 30 participants who enter a real prison and are randomly assigned as guards or prisoners. They must see if they conform to the roles or if morality wins.

We used to call this stupidity. There were smart people and stupid people and we let the smart people do the things they were good at and the stupid people were taken care of and didn't need to worry about what the smart people were doing. But now we let the stupid people think they're smart.
