In other Michigan news, the state looks set to elect it's first transgender lawmaker. Joanna Whaley won her Democratic primary and will compete in November for a state house seat, beating a primary opponent who tried and failed to disqualify her for not running under her deadname

The Congressional Black Caucus is forcing a Black woman to support Jeffries after they all endorsed her opponent, who said don't vote for her because she's Black. The same Congressional Black Caucus who accepted Republicans Allen West and Mia Love with open arms.

Any Democrat who receives AIPAC donations needs to immediately explain why they are beholden to a group who just admitted that they do not want Democrats to control the senate.

The problem is that as we're seeing with the Strait of Hormuz, "the USA forfeits its global ambitions" does not lead to a new age of peace and sunshine, but to global recession and instability. The Strait of Hormuz is not the only load-bearing instance of US power backstopping modern economies.

Thune has a few votes margin so he's playing the classic Senate game of letting a few supporters off the hook on a controversial vote. With Mitch McConnell out in "rehab", he can let Susan Collins and Fetterman and one more in a tight race off the hook and still have a 50-49 win. This is theater.
