blue maga types on here constantly tell me im living in some wild eyed dream world through my consistent wailing that democrats just need to say stuff. instead they would rather cape for ineffective democrats instead of pushing these people to do their jobs -- which includes shit talking

the fact that john ossoff can kick off a two-day media cycle by saying that the president is uninterested in doing his job and is sleeping through meetings and traveling around with a young blonde, suggests that not enough of these guys are speaking plainly and effectively about these assholes

as a political philosopher I find this interesting: Sagal's frame "but it appears to be true" gives the impression that truth is the focal issues here. but maybe not! my very first publication as a baby philosopher was on "Trojan horse propaganda": true statements that function as propaganda

Peter Sagal:

"Everybody is furious at Mr Lipton for saying this but it appears to be true. Here’s the WSJ:"

WSJ screenshot in Peter Sagal's post:

"Leavitt had a reputation for being helpful to inquiring reporters: Replies to requests for comment often arrived with friendly exclamation points-even if she had just berated some of them for a "stupid question" in the briefing room moments before."

Eric Lipton NYT's quoted post:

"One you might find surprising. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt & members of her team have been extremely helpful in responding to questions I raise. Regardless of public facing commentary, privately they are willing to engage and address questions. And I have appreciated that. Thank you"

i don't want to participate in a pile on. i want to note that this is, transparently, an effective strategy from leavitt et al. you want to get the media on your side! alternating between bullying them and being nice to them seems to work, in ways that are pretty straightforwardly explicable

Well that and more importantly Articles 2 and 3 of the Republic of Ireland’s constitution explicitly make it clear that Ireland is a *state of its citizens* and not “the (ethnic) Irish state for all Irish people to the exclusion of the non-Irish citizenry”. It is therefore not an ethnostate.

Article 2.
It is the entitlement and birthright of
every person born in the island of Ireland, which includes its islands and seas, to be part of the Irish nation. That is also the entitlement of all persons otherwise qualified in accordance with law to be citizens of Ireland.
Furthermore, the Irish nation cherishes its special affinity with people of Irish ancestry living abroad who share its cultural identity and heritage.Article 3.
1. It is the firm will of the Irish nation, in harmony and friendship, to unite all the people who share the territory of the island of Ireland, in all the diversity of their identities and traditions, recognising that a united Ireland shall be brought about only by peaceful means with the consent of a majority of the people, democratically expressed, in both jurisdictions in the island. Until then, the laws enacted by the Parliament established by this Constitution shall have the like area and extent of application as the laws enacted by the Parliament that existed immediately before the coming into operation of this Constitution.

I think most things people disliked about 'woke 1' will self-correct because the thing that enabled them was thinking this was the worst things could possibly get and that is an illusion that fewer people are under now.
