How do you pronounce jaguar? I say something like "jag-wire" but my husband says it more like "jag-you-are", and my toddler is confused 🙊 (this skeet brought to you by the Wild Kratts book on canids) (I know jaguars aren't canids!! but the rare South American bush dogs they compete with are!)

Some Dems did run anti-trans campaigns, and the results show that NONE OF THEM HAD TO. So one of my takeaways is that if you are Dem and still running on bigotry, it's not because you are being "pragamatic" it's because you are being a bigot. And you don't have a pollster to cover your ass anymore.

And for God’s sake: follow Mamdani’s lead and have someone with charisma who seems normal (Ossoff? AOC?) go on Instagram and TikTok and explain how every passed policy will improve people’s lives. Passing good legislation isn’t enough. You have to EXPLAIN VERY CLEARLY WHAT IT DOES

1. nuke the electoral college so every American’s vote counts equally 2. Ban Congress people, White House admin from trading stocks 3. Non-partisan redistricting. End all gerrymandering 5. Automatic voter registration for all U.S. citizens, who will then be sent mail ballots.

man, the funniest thing about "now is not the time for revenge" is that revenge is probably the lowest common denominator in the big tent. like it'll be real work to get the libs and socialists to agree on affordability policies. everyone's cool with revenge, though

Everytime I hear “no political retribution” I think of our country blowing up fishing vessels in the Caribbean and then going back to kill the survivors. Until now, the republicans have owned that unspeakably evil behavior. If the democrats do nothing about it, they are collaborators.

"Most people I see driving these vehicles show few signs of using them to haul bags of Quikrete or move a buddy’s couch... if you don’t use your truck for something akin to this at least three times a year, you should be forcibly downgraded to a Toyota Yaris."

Transit Talk: Your massive truck is deadly, and I’m judging you

Transit Talk is not impressed with your BIG TRUCK and, in fact, believes it's dangerous, economically infeasible, and impractical, especially on the narrow streets of Pittsburgh.

I'd love to see all the carve-outs and loopholes via "light truck" designation eliminated. All consumer private vehicles have to follow the same regulations on emissions, front end crash safety and so on. And then have vehicle axle weight taxes.

If it sounds like I'm stuck on Mississippi in particular, it's because pre-civil rights Mississippi is maybe the closest any modern American state got to being a full-blown totalitarian terror regime. And now the party of multiracial liberal democracy can now credibly compete there statewide.

everyone jokes about libbing out, but let me say: you can hold a radical politic and still celebrate when positive change happens. tuesday was like rescuing a drowning person. we can be happy they didn’t die. joy is fuel that keeps us going, don’t deny yourself of it because you think it’s cringe.

1/ Dear dozens of new economic populist members of Congress, You’ll face fast pressure to deliver economic results. How to do it? Subpoena CEOs. A shocking amount of time, they'll change what they are doing long before you pass a bill or actually cut off their federal funding. So:

The fact that so many seats in states people didn't even realize were in play and that others are so close (Mississippi!!) speaks to how people in places a lot of y'all wrote off were quietly putting in a metric fuck-ton of work, while meanwhile "safe" WA and CO couldn't kill anti-trans measures? 👀

This is too hopeful for bluesky, but I really wonder if there's now hope for something like a return to normalcy, by which I simply mean that my top level political concerns are policies and politicians, not the machinery of the republic.
