The conception of "Seattle residents" that excludes renters is even more absurdly insulting now than it was when Juarez was elected in 2015. A growing majority of Seattle rents their homes; the homeowners demanding "what the city is accustomed to" are not the only "people of the city."
I think this kind of reaction is pretty outsized for a reasonable question—if a big-city police chief is out of town much of the time, including on weekends, holidays, and during the summer when violent incidents are more common, that's a matter of obvious public interest.
This story is indeed insane. They literally *discounted his correct answers* (on questions about the Constitution) so that a Trump supporting girl who wants to go to Hillsdale College could win $25K and be televised meeting Trump. So. Gross.

Now @apnews.com has a deeply reported story confirming the recently-hired ICE officer who shot a man in Maine had serious mental health issues and a long history of violence against women. This comes after ICE slashed hiring standards and rushed some into the field before background checks cleared.
