It's not "incorrect" to treat TTRPG character creation as a guided OC creation tool – heck, it's not even novel; the 1st RPG to frame chargen as a solo minigame came out in like 1977 – but you have to recognise that it's tuned to produce a specific Type of Guy, even in allegedly generic games. My kid has in fact proved capable of learning to say "hello" back to a peer and "how are you" and even though they're always going to read as a bit non-neurotypical, being able to follow a basic social script is going to help them actually hold down a job one day.

Is that the "get married" scolds really mean "lower your standards." The right's marriage propaganda portrays the character "good husband" as Christian, moral, strong, hard-working, mature, and able to provide for a family. When women look at their dating options, they don't see that on offer.
