Winner: Scotland's Most Best Face (23/24 season) Icon: a smiling bearded man in a blue vest and white cap, a Mediterranean hillside behind Banner: a frosty winter scene from up a hill, a low sun shining between low cloud and a layer of mist

Oh wow this chicken turned out *nice*. Marinated in olive oil, honey, wine vinegar, chilli flakes and a lot of crushed garlic, in the oven at 200 for 32 and a half minutes.

A couple of chicken thighs on a plate with a heaping portion of salad (tomato, red onion, lettuce, red pepper). The chicken has deep slashes to let the marinade in, and is brown with blackened bits and looks glossy.

Here is the problem. Even if any of these people wanted to ignite the all channels screaming hate campaign against Badenoch over this, they wouldn't be able to get the rest of the lads to join in. And so they need to come up with some reason why not, that isn't "we only do that to left wingers."

Wild to see this lot have to thread this needle. How, indeed, have we got ourselves into a mess where an actual neo nazi who was imprisoned for harassing a Jewish Labour MP is not getting the all channels screaming headlines treatment as when, ten years ago, his actions could be blamed on the left?

Where now the titans of a former age, Who scrupled not to rename Top Cat Lest some advantage mercantile be thereby gained? Even though the whole affair was no more Than "Bilko" with cartoon cats, And saw but a single season, its life One perfect summer; scant hours 'twixt snowdrop and harvest moon

Sometimes someone asks me something and I don't catch it, so I say "what?" and they start to repeat the question and that plus whatever processing my brain has been doing in the background gets me the whole thing, so I interrupt them with the answer, which I worry seems rude. Does that sound rude?

Pish, it's because we're a carceral state and politicians are obsessed with being tough on crime. Chronic underinvestment in the estate is only the secondary driver of the crisis.

🗣️ PM @andy-burnham.bsky.social: "Britain’s prisons crisis has its roots in a failure to add sufficient new places between 2010 and 2024. Just 500 places were added and 23 prisons were closed. As a result, the system is now dangerously close to capacity and we are running the risk of...

That's insane. Journalists should only ever be the politician they're questioning's spouse or friend from Eton or an in-law or someone they met through a mutual friend at the Spectator garden party or a former minister or a fellow columnist at the same paper. But never an advisor that's too corrupt.

My parents no longer have a landline after finally getting broadband. They'd had that landline since I was about 4 years old so I'm realising I'm a little emotional about it. The number of in-use phone numbers I can remember has decreased from 2 to 1: my own mobile number, so not very helpful

I cannot rest from discourse. I will see that film again tomorrow. I will drink life to the lees. Again I will enjoy greatly, will suffer greatly, both with those that love me, and in Pleasantville NY. I am become a meme. Film showing: burnsfilmcenter.org/booking/the-...

Let me explain: this is what happens to the Labour Party in a country where there is another party that’s one nuthair to their left, so they can’t keep their boot on the throat of anyone vaguely left wing: they melt down in wingnut squealing because they are dominated by horrific reactionary cranks.
