🧵 1/6 Vaccinating allergic patients carries risks: the patient’s IgE recognizes allergen extracts and can trigger severe adverse reactions. To address this, Dr. Roy Patterson (1970s) proposed an innovative approach: modifying the extracts by polymerizing them with glutaraldehyde.

My main PhD paper is finally out! 🎉 After ~5 years, it’s published today in 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘐𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺. @natimmunol.nature.com It all started with an unexpected observation 🔍: 👉 Mice lacking the dendritic cell receptor DNGR-1 developed tumours earlier ⏩ and more frequently 📈 than wild-type mice. 1/11 🧵

On the use of murine models: Results should be interpreted with caution. Batf3-deficient mice have been traditionally used as a model to study the function of cDC1; however, this transcription factor seems to play other essential roles in other immune populations👇

Fascinating study revealing how NK cells can eliminate intracellular E. coli infecting the urothelium. -Just a comment on the NK depletion experiment, NK1.1 is also expressed by ILC1s, NKT and most γδ T1 cells (IFN-γ producers).
