you know what's a better bulwark against the rest of the right? actual leftist policy that improves people's lives. all those things the far right preys on exist as a result of centrism bowing to capital allowing people to be exploited.

In this less than ideal world, your 'left-wing' government has dragged the UK's political discourse so far to the right that Tommy Robinson is celebrating and fascist squads are emboldened to assemble and intimidate where they see fit. Your 'decent centre right' doesn't exist independently of this.

I get where trans people are coming from, but I sometimes wonder how far up the pile of societal priorites you should be. Children are going hungry both in UK and USA Russia, Ukraine and Trump's war catastrophe has the kindlings of WWIII. Sometimes you have to accept that you cant be a priority

I guess I am a bit of a utilitarian, trying to prevent as much harm as possible, even if that means some folks don’t get their needs met.

I think cis people do not understand that when we say “this will harm trans people” it’s because we are in communities that is constantly doing collective suicide watch for each other, and most of us know multiple people that did not make it. if we say “this will harm kids” we mean “kids will die”

It's all vibes man, politics is all vibes. If cis people gave a fuck about trans people, they'd be protecting us. As is, they care more about like, protecting a building than saving trans lives. Ending youth care *will harm trans kids*. There's no other reason the fascists are doing it.

ideally i would love to support minority rights but in this case the minority in question is a minority of the population, so it just isn't worth it, mathematically speaking

Also, because people seem to keep forgetting: trans people are about the same percentage of the population as jews were in Germany prior to the Holocaust. If we are too small a minority for someone to fight the nazis for, jews would've been too small for them to fight for, too.

Astonishing that no political party in either the US or UK seems to want LGBT votes any more. 10% of the population and nobody wants to represent us
