One thing I didn’t have space to fit here: some people, on both sides of the debate, like to pretend that the only AI risk worth caring about is superintelligence. I think that’s wrong, and misses a huge swathe of ways that improvement in AI capabilities could be really bad for humanity at large.

The editor in chief of The Economist referring here to the AfD’s leader as a “perfectly thoughtful person“ instead of what she truly is - a driver and enabler of German fascism - is a huge part of the problem.

this is good. woo as a venue of play/intuition/art/harmless nonsense is fine, woo as a gateway to distrust of actual science and *especially* medicine is bad. people interested in the first also have a duty to guard against the second.

Well for a game I wasn't even planning to watch that was a lot of fun.
Had no interest in the third place game. Thought I'd just watch the first 10 minutes... and here we are. Absolutely amazing.
This was narratively perfect. Great character work and plot resolution from the writers
