relatively young, female Times journalist I vaguely know got upset about people being happy Rod Liddle died. Press class solidarity is a brain disease.

No, don’t you see, it’s just being “framed” as right-wing pathology. In reality, despite being a Tory who became a neo-Nazi and is now back to being a Tory it’s actually all the fault of the radical left. I am very smart and definitely not a crank

Rafael Behr @rafaelbehr.bsky.social
The whole thing, as first person account of "anti-Zionism" blending with paranoid antisemitic conspiracy theory, is grimlyfamiliar from radical left although reporting of him as ex neo-Nazi frames it as rightwing pathology. Me: (a smart columnist, looking at claims made by an ex-Tory neo-Nazi booted out of the party for crimes, now standing as a Tory councillor whole doing a rehabilitation tour parroting the agreed media line in his new “anti-extremism” gig) This is extremely convincing stuff, and very worrying.

Interesting passage in the mea culpa on antisemitism from Tory council candidate at centre of selection row, supporting the view
- fiercely denied by most on left at the time - that Corbyn was a magnet drawing antisemitic cranks into Labour.
By 2015, when I was 22 turning 23, this ideology had become my whole exis-tence. I welcomed Jeremy Corbyn's election as Labour leader because I saw him as hostile to Israel and aligned with anti-Zionist politics. In my mind, all of this was part of the same war. Alongside those I associated with, I began targeting Jewish MPs and becoming loudly vocal about what we called "Jew-ish infiltration". One of my peers had been arrested and jailed for targeting Luciana Berger in an antisemitic cam-paign. Rather than seeing that as a

Well thank god you're taking the self-proclaimed "former" Neo-Nazi at his word, Rafa, how fantastic that the testimony of this neo-Nazi criminal appears to confirm all of your priors

I don't want to add to any ratios here, but there have been a few incidences of 'I am deeply saddened and shocked at the reaction to the death of [X very nefarious journalist and proven abuser]' Yes, that's kind of the point. These responses act as a warning and deterrent against abusing your power.

Once again for those at the back: ‘Don’t speak ill of the dead’ is about your great aunt Elsie, who liked a long gin with a short tonic at elevenses, and blew your inheritance money betting on the horses. Speaking ill of absolute monsters is a moral obligation, actually.

A lot of columnists have lost their minds in recent years because social media has allowed people to talk back to them, whereas before they could say any old vile shit with next to no pushback

im not crazy. YOU're crazy. i've changed and manipulated time and created 65 thousand graves in day. stack that over a week i'm gonna kick your butt. stack that over a year, you're toast.

GREG DAVIES: seems like a kind of a shit task. Everyone just seems like they're going home normally. ALEX HORNE: well before you say that let's have a look at how Odysseus did. cut to panel of AJAX, MENELAUS, AGAMEMNON, and DIOMEDES who are all staring at ODYSSEUS with his head in his hands

You don't understand scale. Embark on a journey of revenge. Dig two graves. Their loved ones embark on a journey of revenge. They dig four graves. Their loved ones embark on a journey of revenge. In 6 months you have 256 graves. In a year you have 65,536 graves.

That Democrats see mass-murdering fascists dismantling the country as nothing more than "colleagues they dislike" is why we've been in a non-stop plummet. Incredible this is still debatable, by people who ostensibly oppose fascism, ten years into this?!?

My hot take is that Lindsey Graham did many contemptible things but if you’re furious that his Senate Democratic colleagues are posting nice things about him today you need to put down your phone, get some fresh air, and remember a time when a colleague you disliked departed this mortal coil.

Every lifelong football fan I've ever met is like "I think players are supposed to serve their suspension" and every adult convert is like "the Archon of Constantinople's epistle on the Pentacostine rites of the eucharist clearly states handballs are mandatory."

“Automatic” in the FIFA regs/code just means that there’s no need for additional process—i.e., an investigation or disciplinary proceeding—to determine the applicable sanction. It does not mean the sanction is unreviewable. It does not mean that Article 27 cannot be invoked to suspend the sanction.
