Portland Police have more or less been on a wildcat work slowdown/strike since 2020 and I assume that’ll get a tad worse now. Idk shit about civ-mil relations as a practice area or academic discipline, but if I was the mayor I’d be staffing up on people who do.

troyliss@troyliss.bsky.social · 2d agoWhy is it never seen as a problem that Gab or Truth Social are alt-right bubbles, or that Musk is actively making X a white-supremacist site, but a social media site being perceived as liberal or progressive is a horrible flaw that must be rectified? Is it a money thing? It must be a money thing.
I genuinely belive Portland should expect to end the century as a city of 4 million people, as it is a refuge that will be largely shielded from the worst effects of climate change.

In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.

It's a testament to why finding and maintaining proper scope is fundamental to the success of open source projects.
It’s so wild when I talk to a liberal politician who like just doesn’t understand that the tech oligarchs are committed to enacting fascism in the USA. Like you can see that these folks are buddies with Trump but it’s unfathomable they’re using their tech toward the same political project?
