The new Bond producers are insisting that their Bond movie "has to be different." Counterpoint: It needs to adhere rigidly to the same egg-obsessed formula that Fleming perfected.
I've been reading James Bond novels again and I think I've cracked the formula. Amazon, please take note for any movies you plan on making:
My manifesto for Doctor Who: 1) Chat about an old story with podcasters, comedians, and fans 2) Turn that story into a gameshow 3) No, really 4) Starts Saturday 15th August
What’s amazing about the Telegraph crew is how thin their pretence of believing in ‘free speech’ really is.
Had an incredible interaction with a guy over the weekend who went to see The Odyssey and told me he was pissed that Elliott Page played Achilles, a character Elliott Page did not play that was not in the movie
I tried to pack loads of interesting and stuff into this chat about Rez High, storytelling, dystopias, David Bowie, worldbuilding, and much more. Thanks to my pal @alasdairstuart.com for the thoughtful questions. alasdairstuart.com/interview-br...
Have no fear, he's got quizzes for years Like... what if owls or something?
Give a hoot, it's International Owl Awareness Day! Yes, it is. Test your international owl awareness by naming the Doctor Who stories from each of these screencaps.
LOL, surely the most blissfully un-self-aware man "working" today. I keep telling you this, but catapult is the only way with Zaslav. Imagine the money they'll save then...

They really care about the safety of women and girls - all GCs, currently eulogising Rod Liddle
Christopher Hitchens said of Jerry Falwell: “If you gave him an enema, he could be buried in a matchbox.” So anyway, Rod Liddle is dead.
So that I am not seen to be picking on one specific recent corpse, I would like to wish ALL domestic abusers a very Drop Dead.
The Ring is a film about the importance of looking after your emotional well-being
The shit hit the fan, and to remain functional right wing governments had to implement policies that in any other context would have been called socialist. It showed, despite decades of rhetoric, that the right's outlook is the idealistic pipedream that can't function under crisis conditions.
I wonder if the backlash against pandemic measures and our current reduced pandemic readiness is a reaction to the fact that what little we did do *worked*. Making it a social demand to care about others, investing in science for public health, and just *giving people money to survive* is effective.
On a simple moral level: hey. Guess what? We are, as a country, doing next to nothing to help people whose lives were burned down during the pandemic lockdowns. We are doing very little for Long Covid, for trauma. We are also AFAIK possibly even less prepared for a pandemic now than we were in 2020.
“Why Spider-Man Needs a Landlord,” a video essay I wrote for @ign.com on Peter Parker's intersection with New York housing costs, and how various movies and comics use (or don't use) physical spaces to tell a story of class. youtu.be/m2LpYxxLU5M?...

Suddenly getting lots of follows from 'script festivals' who are keen on people paying them to read their material and 'consider' it, awww that's nice of them. Reminded: money is supposed to flow *towards* the writer, not away from.
I started getting followed by some "film festivals" and "writing festivals" and thought "oh, these are cool!" Then I looked a little closer. They're all part of a network that preys on writers, charging us for reviews, and feeding our stuff into slop generators. So I made a list.👋🏻🖕🏻😠
What I hate about COVID downplayers is… you won okay. In the aftermath of humanity coming together to develop the most crucial vaccines of our lifetime & collectively sacrificing to save lives, we are now less safe, less vaccinated & less empathetic than ever. You won ok. Lay down your swords.
Yes lockdown was really tough for kids. Lots of those kids are teenagers now so maybe as a thank you our establishments could stop deliberately making even more things worse for them due to a weird systemic hatred of our own youth
What you have to understand about people like Lewis Goodall, is that they genuinely believe they are elite compared to other people and that any opinion they form, regardless of how little they know on the topic, must be valid and at least of equal value to any expert in that field.
British people love to look at any catastrophe and say "well it didn't impact me directly so any measures to mitigate it must have been unnecessary" just because they couldn't get their treats for a little bit.
