over the years it got broken down so the stone could be repurposed elsewhere, so historians have been finding bits and pieces of it scattered all around. like one little bit in a church wall. one little bit to cover a ditch. just a bunch of little Wife Guy fragments all over Rome.
my favorite historical wife guy is the Laudatio Turia guy, who constructed a giant stone monument on which he had carved a lengthy narrative about how hot and brave and politically savvy and good at weaving his wife was.
I am going to be spending the rest of my day and possibly my week thinking about "Werner the Herzog" and quite frankly it's the last thing I needed

i think a lot of well-meaning people fall into a rhetorical trap where they take the bait and argue about male vs. female performance in sports rather than arguing for the value and dignity of women’s athletics generally. don’t let yourself be dragged into a bad faith framing.
