One response I’m seeing to this quite frequently is that RD’s horror at the body of a hot woman on the pill is indicative of his sexuality (he’s either gay or ace) and I’d just like to point out that lots of straight guys hate women and their bodies, especially if they’re incredibly repressed.

Plenty of straight men especially hate women's bodies if they find themselves attracted to women whose bodies are not the normate ideals (thin, beautiful, etc etc) and are uncomfortable with their own desires

I've seen a lot of things where people are like, "RFK is just promoting healthy eating," and it's amazing what branding can do, because as far as I've seen, the main dietary things that RFK has pushed are the importance of eating fast food fried in a particular animal fat and drinking raw milk.

The important thing to know about boots is that Dr. Martens was bought by a private equity firm a while back, the boots are now garbage in terms of construction quality, but Solovair set up to make similar boots on the old equipment in the old factory and their versions are much better quality.

My take on boots discourse is that we face a lemons problem with many consumer goods, given the acquisition of many storied brands by companies aggressively milking accumulated brand equity for higher profits, such that price and reputation for durability does not reliably predict higher roi.

A couple of weeks ago I rode to Newburyport MA and saw this COVID memorial and realized this is the only one I have ever seen anywhere. And the fact that I nearly broke down seeing it is something I still think about.
