Last week, I visited Juniper Blessing’s memorial and met with trans students at UW to hear their experiences and the fear they felt after her killing. Trans people deserve to live as their full, authentic selves. I will continue to fight in Congress for them to do just that.

Rep. Jayapal in a green blazer looking at a memorial for Juniper Blessing filled with various items, including a large trans pride flag, drawings, flowers, and numerous stuffed toys. A sign reads "Protect Trans Kids" amidst other supportive messages.Rep. Jayapal listening to UW students discuss their experiences and the fear they felt after Juniper Blessing's killing. Rep. If you're a cis person insisting that the prospect of trans children playing youth sports is not only "a problem" but in fact one of the biggest problems we currently face as a nation, I'd be happy to introduce you to literally a million other things that should be worrying you more.

Edwin Jeovanny Lopez Cornejo didn't deserve to die in a concentration camp. No one deserves to die in a concentration camp. Every single death at ICE's hands, every day this modern day gestapo and these modern day concentration camps exist, is a crime against every single one of us.

A 39-year-old El Salvadoran man, who was being held at Delaney Hall, has died, the man's family says. He's the father of a 12-year-old US citizen daughter and has lived in the country for nearly 20 years. www.thecityreporter.nyc/2026/08/03/s...

Still can’t over the fact that the president of the United States just told an entire state to pound sand after getting cyberattacked by a foreign adversary because they didn’t vote for him and it was treated like a Tuesday lol

Record outbreak of diarrhea-causing parasite 20M eggs recalled due to salmonella Worst air quality in world from wildfire smoke UN says world risks HIV resurgence due to funding cuts Most measles cases in 35 years They’re going after Fauci to distract you from current public health failures

California is debating legislation right now that would ban all ICE employees from ever being hired by a public agency for life. This is good and next year's Democratic House needs to provide a full roster of ICE employees to help facilitate state efforts like this one.

in a lot of ways the current republican government is just the worst, extractive red state governance taken national. total hostility to public goods, total indifference to long-term investment, and a monomaniacal interest in using the state to enrich private benefactors

the food safety stuff is another reminder that a large, huge, gigantic part of being a republican is going “lmao why are we spending money to prevent horrifying disasters from happening if they never happen 🤪”

ICE has fatally shot 11 people since Donald Trump's second term began. These are not isolated incidents. They are the predictable result of a cruel, violent system. Abolish ICE.

ICE murdered a 26 year old father in Biddeford, Maine. It's the second ICE murder in less than a week—and just the latest in a series of attacks from Trump’s thugs. Horrific. Abolish ICE now.

I wish more journalists would point out that Sen. McConnell and Rep. Tom Kean (missed 4 months of work) are/were essentially on paid sick & medical leave. The same employment protection they’ve spent their careers blocking other Americans from having.

Deeply saddened to learn of the loss of my dear friend Satan, the Prince of Lies. Though we often disagreed about matters such as the appropriate role of torture in the afterlife, I will most remember how his quick wit and affable nature made our weekly golf outings a ritual. He will be missed.

Not only does this horrible story illustrate the wanton cruelty of our immigration system as it was is now, it also illustrates how utterly heartless it's been for decades. This man tried to get his citizenship for as long as it takes to raise three sons. He did everything "the right way." And...

"Today is the first day without him for all of us, and it is heartbreaking to know that my mom did not make lunch for my dad before going to work—the first time in their 30+ year marriage" - son of the man ICE killed

The reflecting pool mess started funny but there's absolutely nothing funny about the DOJ securing an indictment of a man for touching a pond because the president made up a conspiracy theory about vandals that it needed to validate. That's totalitarian

Breaking news: A grand jury in D.C. has indicted David Hearn, a three-time Olympian, for allegedly vandalizing the newly refurbished Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. More details here:

trans rights are human rights and nothing will change that, no matter what a bunch of unelected law wizards and bigoted legislators say

Big props to Brad Lander on winning his primary. Dude has done the moral thing many times and put his body on the line against ICE. He even came to Minnesota during the ICE Occupation to see the injustice firsthand. It’s nice to see moral courage rewarded by voters.

there are certain ideas that are really narrative features of American politics more than actual truths. conservatives are patriotic despite their claims that America has degenerated, they're tough on crime despite embracing many criminals, they're free marketeers despite anti-competitive practices
