I mean, I suppose traditionally, the answer is "have a once-in-a-century charismatic and capable president backed by double-digit popular vote margins" but that's a hard strategy to intentionally produce.

Putting these @ettingermentum.bsky.social posts here mainly because "One day we will get you that free childcare for your children with names from the Titanic manifest and you will deserve it more than anyone has ever deserved anything" is a perfect sentence.
I swear to God, part of the problem of literacy is that we make kids read SO MANY books like this. Of course they’re going to associate reading with misery! We put them in a Skinner box and shock them when they read, what did people THINK would happen?
Having ranted about school curriculum books, I’ve just seen my son’s summer reading list, and all I can say is “I was right”. A more depressing collection would be tricky to assemble. Are we actively trying to convey to kids the idea that reading is dismal and arduous?
Pretty stellar shot of a 4-4-2 sitting in West Oakland after a rainstorm in the 1930s.

Bananas aren't supposed to be tingly?!
Some people's mouths prickle at certain raw fruit and never find out it isn't like that for everyone. Vote on what fruit tastes like to you.

Welcome to the CAMBRIAN FECAL REVOLUTION. We didn't name it the Cambrian fecal explosion for obvious reasons. I'm happy to share this paper on fecal matter and its role in Cambrian ecosystems. So if you want to read a really shitty paper (50 days free access): authors.elsevier.com/a/1nYg8cZ3X7...
It is virtually impossible to buy a TV today that is as small as the largest TVs I lusted after in the mid-1990s.
Bet you didn't know that the Little Morton Salt Girl is an immortal being who existed before there was life on Earth.
since oscilloscope graphics are doing the rounds again, here's some photos from that time a few years ago when I built a gizmo to show dril tweets (and assorted other nonsense) on my ancient Tek 466

Thanks! Hadn’t heard about osci-render before. Will check it out. If you want to try out DOOM you can use this: scope.nielsleenheer.com It has various generators, such as Asteroids, the Chrome offline-dino and even an emulator.

The thing about China is that it forces retirement at 55. Their city planners are 35 years old and in charge of entire cities. America is governed by people who want to preserve 1990s buildings that were built to mimic a long-demolished movie palace that nobody remembers.
There’s a guy on TikTok who posts just him taking a pizza out of the oven every day with tongs and all of the comments are about how their day is ruined from having watched this

Always the good links in here! I’m especially inspired this one: mechanical-pencil.com/products/pen There’s some super nice interactivity going on, and I think I’ll need to attempt making a sticky table of contents like that 👀

"Artificially tobacco flavored"‽ What on Earth are these things made from?
Can’t stop thinking about this ad for off-brand Zyn instructing the reader to Forget Everything You Know
the majority of tech press and "product ideas" right now are pure magical thinking "i'm an athlete, i want to know how i slept as a baby" doesn't add up in any universe, EVEN IF the ~data~ was useful, which it absolutely isn't nobody is OR WILL study infant sleep vs adult athletic performance
None of this makes sense.
Goofy ass question: how fast could, in a laboratory setting, moths eat a sweater, at max speed? And are there labs around that have a critical mass of sweater eating moths that could supply enough moths?

You're in a bubble of the literate, the people who are able to process written language, and a dozen of the biggest sweatiest sex pest freaks the world has ever seen are using their vast resources and power to stomp this bubble into the ground.
Elon is talking about using robots to build a mass accelerator on the moon in support of an economy 1000x to 1 million times the current earth economy. It's a bad sci fi novel not an earnings call.
Kimco ($KIM) is a REIT focused on strip malls. They're widely renowned for owning the worst possible assets; one example across the street from me saw an anchor grocery tenant bail over 5 years ago and the unit has been vacant since. Anyhow, here's their new/renewed rent change vs prior (%).
Speaking of REITs, did you know there's a pure-play post office REIT? $PSTL only owns assets leased to USPS.
