#TTRPG enthusiast, general game-player, never got the hang of using a console controller, easily nerd-sniped by frontend issues. Profile picture: collaboration with niece, age 7.
@rossisaacs.bsky.social is a longtime Game Designer from the 1990s and 2000s. He needs help. You need games. Let's make a deal. More than $500 of pdfs, from numerous publishers, for just $29.95. For a good cause. www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/5...
Bravo to Bill. I have instructed agents that all foreign language deals require a clause that an actual person will translate. Same for audiobook readers in all languages, but publishers may be inclined to fight this issue. Needs monitoring by all writers and agents.
Just cancelled Mongolian publication deal for something of mine because the translation would have been done by AI.

We are holding a vigil for Professor Jason Arday outside the Cooper Gallery at the University of Dundee on Thursday 20th August, from 5pm. All welcome.
Wonderful to hear that the Irish Network Operators Group (#iNOG) is restarting after a long hibernation. Their next meeting is on the 10th of September, hosted by Asiera and you can get all the details at inog.net
I seem to have my reading groove back; have finished a fourth book from the Hugo award best novel nominations. They are all very good, of course, but the stand outs for me are The Incandescent and The Everlasting. Both have a lot of energy, both technically fantasy, but very different stories.
Non-Irish People, I want to ask you something. The less you have a clue what I'm talking about, the more I want your take. In Ireland, there are two crisp brands called Tayto, and both have a mascot called "Mr Tayto". Which of the two do you prefer just on vibes?
Tech Company: At long last, we have created the Vast and Trunkless Leg of Stone, Standing in the Desert from classic poem Ozymandias.
Delighted to be at Dublin Comic Con this weekend giving away free books on the Wicklow level (2nd floor) on behalf of @dublin2029.bsky.social. Come get a book or two, hear about our plans to bring the World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon) back to Dublin in 2029, and maybe sign up to help!
Over 400kg of other ingredients, 80g of saffron. And it probably costs more than everything else combined.

Like me, you've probably backed a bunch of popular projects which were really just pre-orders for a nearly-completed product. Why not go back to kickstarter's roots and make a tiny company very happy? www.kickstarter.com/projects/rat...

Can't decide which I'd like to see adapted more: "The Tiger is Out" or "i lik the bred".
Studio execs are going to want to adapt more poems for the big screen now
Last night I attended the cast and crew screening of Rogue Trooper by Duncan Jones. It was utterly incredible. I don’t know the franchise and had no clue what it was about , even though I recorded a very short voice sequence used in the film. I can honestly say it’s an amazing movie.
In case you were wondering WHY someone would mail their scabs, the earliest inoculation available for smallpox involved grinding up the scabs and inoculating someone with a scratch on the skin. This method reduced the fatality rate from 30% to about 1%. 🧪 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variola...

Historian friend was reading a civil war era letter in an archive, the letter said “In this envelope I include my smallpox scabs” and sure enough there they were. Had to call CDC for a hazmat team.
Having some feelings about Assassin's Creed which are probably too wordy to post anywhere sensible. Hoping @outsidextra.bsky.social makes a video explaining the financial decisions behind whatever the hell they've been doing recently that makes the games measurably longer without being better.
I hide in the bushes, covered in muck to mask my scent from the wolves who have relentlessly tracked me for days. One wanders into the clearing before me. Front paws extend, hind stays up. The words escape before I can stop them. “Biiiiiig stretch.” The hunt finally ends.
