Cars are cancer; parking is poison
Me when I'm advocating for converting one-way streets back to two-way in Indianapolis
Michigan shows us what's possible Just like New York did
Booth Tarkington makes a frighteningly accurate prediction about the development of Indianapolis after the introduction of cars in ‘The Magnificent Ambersons’, published in 1918.
I usually try to explain it like this: picture Bethany Mandel as Pete Buttigieg. Now imagine they're Syrian. Doesn't look so much like the Latin American debt crisis was caused by Greek gods gambling now, does it?
This is just rank Islamophobia and anti-Arab racism, based on the bigoted idea that there is something inherently scary about a president with the last name "El-Sayed." It is incumbent on all of us to call it out.
JD Vance: "We don't want the next administration, whoever -- god forbid you're gonna have President El-Sayed in three years ... "
I think folks have to ask themselves if harboring hurt feelings and injured egos is more important than climbing out of the competitive authoritarian snake pit we live in today.
I meant to post this last night but if you’re mad about any of the primary results you got 24 hours to bleed, try not to say anything you’ll regret in 48, and then it’s Blue No Matter Who.
What is truly "shocking" about the polling miss in Michigan is that it is completely average for a primary "The expected error on the margin between two primary candidates in a race for governor or U.S. Senate is a whopping 13.0 points." blog.fiftyplusone.news/p/2026-texas...
Do we really know who's leading the Texas Senate races?
Primary polls have historically been rather unreliable, and a surge in new primary voters means turnout assumptions matter more than usual

Polling is like really fucked. Strikes me as a huge problem honestly.
Occassional reminder that bot posts with splitter / wrecker messaging will get a lot more common as the midterms ramp up. Recommend blocking them and moving on. Also suspect a lot of the “get every liberal to 1k follower” accounts were setups for this sort of thing.
The band Chat Pile has this one tweet that goes “The two main types of people who live in OKC are stomp-clap mega church yuppies and people who regularly crash their car into the side of a house.” And they have an ongoing bit of reposting news whenever someone in OKC crashes a car into a house.
every other neighborhood in the city becoming a bombed out husk by rejecting every single project instead of actively working to make it better. there’s a reason my neighborhood has a population density almost double that of other neighborhoods, and we’re not slowing down
I'm hearing this neighborhood has too many apartments
Another reminder, since no one in Congress appears to care: These strikes are a campaign of unlawful murders, and the Administration hasn't offered any plausible argument to the contrary. www.washingtonpost.com/world/2026/0...
67 boat strikes. 221 dead. The cocaine hasn’t slowed, officials report.
The president says Operation Southern Spear has virtually ended drug trafficking by sea. Pentagon and DEA analysts have concluded otherwise.

When my wife did chemo and radiation, she would go outside once or twice a day and shed the hair as it all fell out. Today, seven months later, we just found a nest a bird (likely a wren) made out of her hair.
West Philadelphia, born and raised. Reading Homer was how I spent most of my days...
Finally thought of one! Ruin a book by adding a word: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe Malfunction
Ruin a book by adding a word: Charlie Kirk and the Chocolate Factory
ebenezer boldly asks the question what if johnny depp played a weird guy whose abusive past was magically forgotten
Have always loved that the right wing dorks in Poland named their party PiS. More of this, please. Where is the PuPu party, the sHIdd party, the WAN-Qr alliance?
Poland's right-wing opposition PiS party is set to split after a more moderate faction of over 30 MPs loyal to deputy leader and former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki refused to sign a loyalty pledge demanded by leader Jarosław Kaczyński, who said today that meant they had effectively resigned.
I would honestly respect that position, because it’s basically how I feel about establishment Democrats. But reactionary centrists are constitutionally incapable of talking to the Democratic base in a register other than electability concern trolling.
I'd actually be fine with an article that was like "establishment dems have to stop looking like pathetic losers if they want to ward off the DSA insurgency, which I'm not a fan of, but I will still vote for them over Republicans, who all individually awful people" but it's weird we never see it.
i keep seeing people go "Freddie DeBoer has a really great point about this" and maybe he's gotten a lot more coherent but maybe this is proof that if you just keep talking forever people will eventually take you seriously
This month is the 36th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and it reminds me that the ADA could not be passed today. It probably couldn’t get a vote in committee today.
Enshittification is Glonzo for people who think they're too smart to fall for Glonzo
Noncompete clauses reduce workers' earnings. Noncompete clauses also provide no measurable protection against trade-secrets being leaked beyond standard NDAs.
