At what point can we just start blaming people for their poor critical thinking skills and information hygiene decisions? I’m as “we have to fix systemic problems” as anyone, but I feel like we’ve completely abandoned any notions of personal responsibility to the right. People need to be better!

I’m the guy on the left. I taught English as a foreign language. I’m from Virginia.I lived in China. I lived in South Korea. YIMBY. Urbanist. Learning stuff is fun.
these guys all insisted that even the meager COVID restrictions we had in place would last forever because "government never gives up power" and instead of admitting they were wrong, they decided to just become full-time liars
These guys are freaking out over their own imaginations again.
about two weeks ago, i listened to an old, arrogant white man on laura ingraham's show say the wnba allows rough fouls against caitlin clarke because she is a straight white woman, and the wnba is run by black lesbians who hate straight white people.
Jesse Watters calls on Fox News to stop covering the WNBA trans outrage cycle that it created in the first place. "This is week 3 of 'The Five' covering the WNBA. I have to say, I'm done. I hate the WNBA! ...This isn’t a news story. Okay? It doesn’t matter. There will not be a man in the WNBA."
Probably would've been nice to know this before the 2024 election, but sure
ABC has picked it up now. "Capital One says it closed hundreds of Trump's bank accounts in 2021 'for anti-money laundering reasons'"
You should be embarassed to be in middle age and doing this “my dad could beat up your dad” type shit. Unfortunately this seems to be the majority of American middle aged men bsky.app/profile/down...
He will never understand that being "the fat guy from Superbad" is infinitely better than being "the martial arts chud nobody likes"
It's absolutely insane we've somehow let the Covid recriminations debate become like "why didn't we reopen in person schools before there was a vaccine" and not "why did none of the trump guys go to jail for stealing PPE from New York hospitals in March 2020"
It’s crazy how, even if you are all in on the suburban lifestyle. There is apparently no appetite among greenfield devs for even modestly human centered design. No street trees? No street grids? No walking paths/green belts? No bike lanes? Nothing? The same exact topography from a century ago?
Love drone footage of new builds in exurban Texas, gives me a very particular kind of dread to look at that is hard to replicate with other photos.
there is a strain of lefty discourse where you can’t come to any unflattering conclusions about the populace—those must be explained away by how they are being acted upon by capital—but I think you’ll understand things better if you understand capital can also exploit weaknesses it didn’t create
What the press is doing today is exactly what journalists Sam Kinch and Stuart Long famously said about Texas reporters in 1974.
this boils down to "the pandemic didn't actually happen but they still closed the applebees" which frankly i think is a trauma response by a lot of people that buy it - lot easier to be in denial that things were that bad instead of reckoning with 1.3m dead people [in this country]
RFK Jr said these words today on national television "There were ICUs that were empty all over the country including in New York at the height (of the pandemic)" hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha You are a fucking idiot hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha <sobs silently>
Don't believe anything unless you have personally conducted a double-blind randomized controlled trial. That's why I don't wear a seatbelt.
when people say "do your own research" they generally mean "do not trust anyone with any relevant training or experience"
This is literally the shit we used to make fun of Kim Jong-il for!
President Donald Trump reportedly shot a 70 at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, claiming yet another senior and club championship victory — adding to what's said to be more than 40 wins across his properties.
i've reviewed this take and find if to be true
I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.
even more unpopular opinion than the one Max started his (very good) thread with: this is nearly always true
Blaming this on villainous far-away capitalists is what the kids call “cope.”
🎶Despite all my rage, I'll still fight for a minimum wage. 🎶

drinking beer is a pig's favorite oinktivity
bet this feels good as hell if you're the pig
NIMBYism is impossible to satirize because their thought process is always more insane than yours wdym garbage bins will ruin the character of your neighborhood by replacing cars???
I avoid the term “gentrification” when talking about housing affordability because it mostly describes *how people feel* about neighborhood change, not the change itself. For example, this author talks about how containerized trash pickup will “gentrify” NYC’s streets by replacing parked cars:
I once had a longtime criminal defense attorney tell me he felt guilty people often said “there’s no way this could have happened because of X, Y and Z,” instead of ”this did not happen because I did not do it.”
Rep. Max Miller: "My former wife has claimed that during a custody exchange at my home that day, I assaulted her…If I had assaulted her, would she have offered to cook me dinner six days later?"
BRB, gonna get a panel of experts in criminal law and domestic abuse to "think about that" and whoa that was quick they're all holding up signs that say "AYFKM?"
Rep. Max Miller: "These are incredibly serious criminal accusations. If these accusations were true, I would be in jail — I would be. My former wife would not have been offering to cook me dinner and inviting me to playgrounds. Think about that."
Genuinely looks like a scene from a Batman movie where a cartoonishly evil villain somehow makes it onto mainstream media to rant against the establishment.
RFK Jr yelling at Dana Bash sounds like a rabid dog barking
👇🎯🧵 This is what more folks need to understand. The fascists aren’t going anywhere & they exist in every country in roughly the same proportion, & it’s a question of whether we keep a set of bad political institutions that allows them to control the government or not.
They -- as in most nations -- are a minority of roughly 25-35% of the population, but institutions need to be restructured to prevent that minority from exercising national power: shifting to some variant of PR, getting rid of the EC, expanding SCOTUS, adding states to fix the Senate, etc. (2/2)
The USA tolerates far too mych social dysfunction. Yes, it is an issue that people use hard drugs in public. Surely there is a solution somewhere between allowing drug users takeover whole blocks or mass incarceration.
It was inevitable that reactionary centrists would turn against harm reduction and call for a return to mass incarceration
Having a dumpster to put your trash in is nicer than throwing your trash on the sidewalk, and I all but gurantee rich people in midtown will like having them.
There's a hypothetical made here that the rich people in midtown may get preferential treatment by being allowed to keep throwing their trash bags on the sidewalk while new dumpsters are forced upon everyone else, and folks, I find that to be certifiably insane.
This is it boys, the platonic "New York can never get better" piece www.archpaper.com/2026/07/litt...
Really funny when someone comes on here to do some kumbaya style high horsing and gets yelled at by 25 people and starts talking like a batman villain as they're being carted off to arkham
None of you matter at all, say whatever you want I'm sick of people being antisocial fucking pricks on SOCIAL media. You're bullies and assholes, go fuck yourselves.
