I predict this will be an issue in San Diego over the next few years. A politician selling a bus-based system as a way to quickly implement usable transit but not also talking about massive expansion of bus priority along major corridors is lying to sabotage future transit efforts. (1/2)
another factor: these network redesigns cut a lot of low-use routes that run on low-traffic streets, that tend to have favourable reliability stats. throwing more buses on high ridership corridors is good but this is also where traffic congestion is high. bus lanes/transit priority is critical here
