I’ve quit my job at the pedantic, humorless reply factory. I believe there’s a greater than 10% chance that this industry may destroy Bluesky, and I cannot be a part of it anymore
This is still the best OSINT work I think I've ever done: the time I determined Osama bin Laden quite plausibly could have been eating Pizza Hut while watching hentai in his hideout in Pakistan.
It has recently come to my attention that Osama bin Laden could have easily ordered Pizza Hut from his compound in Abbottabad - and that they sell seekh-kebab stuffed crust.
The Kansas helmets remind me of the WMMS 100.7 The Buzzard logo. Cleveland folks know.
The concept of a fascist movement with its epicenter in South Florida never having heard of a Haitian doctor
Ok, not only was the intent what I thought, but “doctors and engineers” is in fact a well-known (mostly European) sarcastic trope used to demean immigrants. The “joke” being that of course we all know, ha ha, these inferior peoples would never occupy such roles. en.wiktionary.org/wiki/doctors...
ACME has expanded into many tech fields. Its chatbot just tells you how to blow yourself up with dynamite.
My son loved COYOTE v ACME so we watched WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT tonight, and I had completely forgotten that Acme plays a major role in that one too.
palantir's employees, if they donate, are pretty uniformly democratic donors!
I have been surprised to discover that it’s a widespread belief that the politics of tech workers overlap with the politics of the most well-known tech executives. I don’t even think that’s true at like Palantir. Maybe Anduril?
One plausible take you can have about Trump 2 is that Trump WH staffers all watched Breaking Bad and came away convinced that we needed a larger proportion of drug dealers to be white.
You cannot make this stuff up. The GOP’s Dallas midterm convention put Ross Ulbricht—the Silk Road founder convicted on 7 federal counts, including narcotics trafficking and money laundering—on stage. Trump pardoned him in 2025. TWO LIFE SENTENCES. And THIS is who they’re putting on a pedestal?
But EPA won’t check for actual pollutants anymore. Big Business wins, we all lose.
BREAKING: EPA is launching a study of water contamination that will, for the first time, test for the abortion pills mifepristone and misoprostol. Anti-abortion groups consider it a major win that could pave the way for restrictions. subscriber.politicopro.com/article/2026...
Hi, I would like to tell you about the company whose AI agents spammed me four times in the past three hours. If you are a creative, particularly one who does #freelance, you need to know about the dystopian iLands business model. Keep yourself safe. tedium.co/2026/09/11/i... new @tedium.co
The Worst Spam Emails: Inside iLands' AI Agent Hustle
iLands, a new AI agent-centric startup, is spamming creatives like me numerous times a day. What do its agents want? My job. Why? They need to buy more tokens.

i think this is the best epitaph for bin laden i have ever seen
I think it's more comforting for some people to think of OBL as some evil genius or tragic victim of imperialism rather than a bog standard delusional ideologically extremist billionaire failson who thought he could accellerationism his way to a theocratic utopia
A lot of writers whose work I follow are also getting these things. If the goal of your company is to piss off every human writer on the internet, mission accomplished
I got two of these in two minutes this morning

This piece was fascinating, getting at a point I'd never considered: bin-Laden's entire concept about what 9/11 would do to America was just... wrong. www.theatlantic.com/magazine/202...
Oil refinery construction timelines aside (hint: long), using DPA like this will be a great tool for green projects next Dem administration. Using same the logic about global crude disruptions and price spikes even! Just cross out "catalytic cracking unit" and write in "windmill"
lol. lmao. just build another FBC, how long does that take, 2 weeks?
Hollywood has spent years saying no, and all it has proved is that its gatekeepers’ imaginations are smaller than Emily’s and Lilly’s and so many other brilliant minds still writing and pitching and refusing to let extraordinary stories be buried. Somebody with money: make the fucking movies.
If you wanna last in Hollywood, you need a thick skin and a shorter memory. But there’s always one you don’t quite get over. 🫶🏼 @lillywachowski.bsky.social
Sure seems like we should revisit that whole "lying president tried to have his goons put an Olympic athlete in prison for his own incompetence" thing
The contractor that renovated the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool has told the Trump administration that errors in its own work and flaws in the repair plan, not vandalism, caused the pool’s new blue liner to peel and break loose, documents show.
Exclusive: A campaign staffer for Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) once used a photo of Nazi soldiers as his Facebook profile photo and recently added to a playlist of songs celebrating Rhodesia, a defunct White-minority-ruled nation often venerated by white supremacists.

Zohran knows he has to be perfect and fortunately for us that's not something he will allow to stop him.
Zohran Mamdani "was the only senior elected official who stayed at the 9/11 memorial ceremony at the WTC until the end…Vance was the first to leave the VIP area, and other elected officials began 'schmoozing.'" Per Steve Kastenbaum:
Lone Progressive Dissenters have the highest batting average of being correct in history, yet that does nothing to change the widespread conviction that today’s Lone Progressive Dissenters must be crazy wackos.
Trump's massive surveillance state and attacks on our civil liberties wouldn't have been possible without the PATRIOT Act. Watch this prescient warning from Russ Feingold, the only Senator to vote against its passage after 9/11.

Very forceful statement by Terry Tao about AI and math. terrytao.wordpress.com/2026/09/11/a... Note, he is not claiming the models aren't real and powerful. He's talking about how that power should be used. This, I believe, is what all AI discussions should center.

like, the saudi air force is a joke and the houthis are clearly joining the fight so what if they just keep hitting the thing like this damage is minor, but the damage 3 weeks from now? or 3 weeks after that?
look, okay. i work in manufacturing and i know people in the oil industry, you can probably figure out what kind of work i do. repairing the pipe itself isn't the problem. that's week or 2 max, you have SOPs for these things (pipelines break, a lot). the problem is if the houthis can do it again
