Alex Andreou@sturdyalex.bsky.social · 7d agoWhile fires rage in large parts of Europe incl UK, farmers face crop failure and livestock loss, every RefUK or Tory politician on the news must be challenged on their "let's do away with costly net zero nonsense" stance, side-by-side with live images of the cost of inaction. Expose the charlatans.

@aptshadow.bsky.social apologies if you’ve covered this elsewhere (and if so, I’d love to be pointed in the right direction!) but I’d be really interested to know how much input you had into the creative choices for the different kinden accent choices used in the ‘Shadows of the Apt’ audiobooks.
Let’s be clear: what these bastards are doing to these books isn’t digitizing. Digitizing is about preservation and access to the original material. They’re gutting and destroying to make Soylent Green. Don’t let them get away with pretending to do this for humanitarian reasons.
In New Mexico we had hundreds of decedents in refrigerated trucks for *years*. It took a DMORT deployment to clear the backlog. We were on the verge of carboard boxes in a mass grave because when FEMA funding ended they demanded the trucks back. I know bc I was the state's Mass Fatality manager.

Robin Wilde@robinwilde.me · 7d agoI actually know the answer to this and it's slightly insane. Google pulls from Wikipedia to determine if a place is a city, town, neighbourhood, whatever. Brighton's first line describes it as a "seaside resort" so Google Maps thinks it's a neighbourhood and doesn't display it in the "city" font.
