Burritos are too expensive not because priced have outpaced earnings, but because we killed home ec class and people are buying too many burritos. If we'd eaten out as much as seems normal now in 1995 we'd be complaining that taco bell had raised the price for a 7 layer burrito.

i've run into a similar thing where some people seem to approach movies and books as mysteries that need to be solved rather than experiences to be enjoyed it's an amusement ride not a quiz fuckin relax

If you’re a Gondorian soldier your experience with hobbits is a tiny guy shows up with a wizard and is immediately taken in the Steward’s counsel. He saves Faramir when the Steward goes mad. A second tiny guy arrives with the Rohirrim and kills the Witch King. The first one then goes on campaign …

for the next couple decades it becomes fashionable in Gondor to be short and maybe a little doughy around the middle upper middle class buying false bellies to wear under their tunics, etc.

"oh I follow everyone" stop "I don't see it" yeah you do, stop "sometimes they're interesting" so are other people, stop

I just saw a meme that said “get in losers, we’re reclaiming the emdash”. People. PEOPLE. Where are your STANDARDS? It CLEARLY should be “get in, losers — we’re reclaiming the em dash.”

White Republicans : we demand historical accuracy People: ok here’s a bunch of information on the slave trade and plantations and white terrorism in reconstruction and the legacy of institutional racism White republicans: not that kind of historical accuracy

And just from a dad’s perspective, it seems to me one of the explicit aims here is to make black girls feel like they are ugly. Like why else are you angry about a black little mermaid. And yes I take that shit personal.

It is genuinely bizarre that we’ve become acclimatized to right wingers throwing a tantrum every time a black person (particularly a black woman) is cast in something, but are also supposed to pretend that this is not racism but related to some other substantive concern.
