computer, enhance it says something that even the Ford government understands that "children cycling safely on quiet streets" is obviously something everybody wants (hence its use as imagery in govt advertising) now if only they'd connect that with actual policy implementation
Given the recent police violence perpetrated against a cyclist on Queen's Quay, TPS' statement in support of that violence and the silence from City Hall, it's probably time we ride. Strength in numbers. Bring friends. Share widely. Ride bikes.

I was a safe streets advocate prior to becoming a father 3 months ago, but holy shit has my fear and anger towards the threat of cars grown to a tremendous energy ever since. If vehicular violence claimed my daughter from me, I have no words for what I'd do.

ICYMI: CBC News @alichiasson.bsky.social did a wonderful job covering Wednesday's pedestrian memorial installation. The designs that would likely have saved Marr Horsey's life - a raised crosswalk, curb extensions and speed calming - are inexpensive. Yet after 13 years, no plans to install them.

Here's some of that speed data. Cameras may be gone, but speed data is still being collected. There's been a 6X ⬆️ in the number of drivers feeling safe traveling at deadly speeds between houses & a park. Larger signs won't stop this, unless those signs have enforceable consequences & fines on them.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who joined us yesterday for the installation of the pedestrian memorial for Marr Horsey. Marr was a dearly loved mother, grandmother and aunt. She was robbed of her golden years with her family. Marr is not forgotten, and her family is not alone.

One more time for those in the back: Doug Ford's goal was to encourage drivers to speed without risk of punishment even though it would increase injury and death particularly in school zones and banning speed cameras achieved that very specific goal. Goal set. Goal achieved!

We checked out the first giganto-signs courtesy of Doug Ford. This is the dumbest crap and a total waste of taxpayer money. The gov't knows speed cameras are effective. Instead of evidence-based best practices that save KIDS' LIVES, these populist idealogues deny reality and leave us with this.

Join us Sunday April 26 10:00 in Acton for a memorial ride to remember Mark Heideman, killed by a reckless driver while biking on March 3 2024. Our friends in Advocacy for Respect for Cyclists placed his ghost bike. The ride will take us to some of Mark's favourite places and end at his ghost bike.
