I dunno I think billionaires who crash rockets into the moon should be shot into the sun but I don’t make the rules.

As I know that DEFCON is at hand, along with various other hacker events for those who don't want to go to Vegas, just *PLEASE* don't take your hazardous device and/or hazmats with you to show off at your table, room, or Crom help you, the restauraunt. Your ̶v̶i̶c̶t̶i̶m̶s̶ waitstaff will not be impressed.
Three-byline alert: 🚨 “.. The Defense Department’s second in command hastily gathered top military and defense acquisition officials for a meeting Friday night to discuss ways to quickly address a shortfall of U.S. weaponry — after he got an angry phone call ..” www.nbcnews.com/politics/nat...
if you're reading all these articles as they come out and assuming the story is "these models are escaping containment and causing danger" and not "this is a PR campaign by companies desperate to build hype" I think you are very silly.
It keeps happening... It'd be great if these companies could spend a little bit more time on network security and a little less time vibe coding.

The NYT could have written a news story about this, with actual sources. Or at the very least they could have interviewed Ellison & asked him some tough questions. Instead they just handed over the most valuable media real estate in the world to a billionaire nepo baby to lobby for his company.
I spoke with 10 CNNers about David Ellison's essay in The NYT, in which he tried to convince the public he'll be a good steward of CNN. Suffice to say, no one at the network is buying what he's selling. “We all have eyes and ears and see what’s happening at CBS." www.status.news/p/david-elli...
These Republican amendments went down in flames. WE WON!
The same old Susan Collins charade. As soon as a controversial nominee or a bill has enough votes to pass, she announces she will vote no when it doesn’t matter. She never casts a deciding vote against Trump. Now she will claim this shows how she is so “independent.”
honestly can't stress enough, as a former family law attorney, how depressingly common Max Miller's behavior and words are, right down to the petty fixation on custody procedure and rules when faced with allegations of shocking violence.
Rep. Max Miller: "When I was reported for child abuse of my daughter for a broken collarbone, my daughter was in my ex-wife's care 9 out of the last 11 days and she took her to the emergency room, which is a contempt violation from our shared parenting plan."
The "nearly orgasmic" part is just Freud, who I'm sure also ate a lot of sauerkraut.
Oh my god the dietician who is telling everyone in the White House to only eat steak and sauerkraut doesn't wipe his ass.
I hopped on to chat with Ed and give myself brain damage listening to Everyone's Least Optimal Nutcase. We just talked about this, which is the most fictional guide I've seen in a long time *SPACEX SEES $100 BILLION ARR BY YEAR-END: CFO
you're goddamn right I'm going to livestream the first-ever SpaceX earnings call on the AT Protocol put it on your calendar now: August 4, 2026, following market close at 4:30 PM Eastern stream.place/niedermeyer.online
Youth sports were doomed when they got sucked into the hypercompetitive college admissions game. Soccer practice used to be a way to kill time after school until you could leave work to pick your kid up; now it's another thing your kid must excel at or they aren't getting into Yale.
the obsession with trans women in sports is, apart from the abject bigotry, a symptom of how we take amateur sports participation way too seriously in this country.
its very telling that the mainstream media narrative is that dsa has wacky and unreasonable positions when the republican party position is that abortion should be banned, latino families should be put in concentration camps, black people should be shot by cops and transgender people shouldnt exist
can’t believe our current all-ages literacy crisis is making me a little nostalgic for the pretentious “we publish experimental poetry chapbooks and have strong opinions on Melville and the 1800s fur trade” Literature Boys of my college years in the late 2000s/early 2010s.
Been thinking about this in the context of education a lot. Right when the pandemic started I was trying to a long piece on the integration of segregation academies and how homeschooling and “travel ball” are related

Bluesky is a "liberal bubble" because fascist chuds can't get traction without algorithmic assistance and because people here trained themselves to block "debate me" trybois the instant they roll up
Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."
The algorithm that keeping fascists off this platform is a simply socially agreed upon rule of immediate blocking of people who jump into your mentions with nonsense or fascism. That is agency of individuals which collectively helps make this place, not a Nazi bar. Keep Bsky algorithm free.

This is pretty amazing -- Trump has apparently learned that umbrellas are supposed to fold up?

It's pretty infuriating that Trump is denying disaster aid to Oregon for political reasons and I have barely heard anything about it, while Biden was falsely accused of doing the exact same thing to North Carolina and millions of people believed that
it’s pretty obvious that a lot of people remember that COVID lockdowns were unpleasant and from there just extrapolate that they were therefore bad policy
It's so wild how the Trump administration has revealed how utterly depraved and immoral so many powerful people are. Before this, people thought "Oh RFK, Jr., he's a little weird." Now it's "He will say and do anything for his ego and for power."
I worked for New York’s largest medical center at the start of the pandemic. There were morgue trucks on the streets. They set up emergency medical tents in Central Park. Healthcare worker colleagues died. It is horrific that RFK Jr is on national TV lying that ICUs were empty.
