History, philosophy and politics through a Māori lens... or whatever my hyperfocus is at the current moment.

The amount of times as a professional working for organisations with licenses to access standards that I’ve had to pirate them for efficient access is lowkey wild. It is so inefficient to be standing on site with a standard cited and a need to access it and nobody has it.

New Zealand's standards system is a legacy of its neoliberal turn decades ago - and it doesn't work. Standards should be free, open, and for the public good. Not locked down in proprietary systems. Given technology today, keeping standards closed and "user pays" is a Sisyphean task.

anyway, if we're talking about threats to left minor parties the main one is Labour, specifically Hipkins - multiple unfounded, sometimes quite personal attacks against Green MPs & insinuation that Greens are a threat to a Labour government if you want to be taken seriously assess the actual facts

TOP is not the most important threat this election and the way that so many on the left have dropped EVERYTHING to swing their sites at them is a bit concerning yes, we can do multiple things at once, but people aren't TOP is not a major threat to minor left parties, stop legitimising them as one

Stitch up or not, Labour parachuting a cop into a top spot on their list is a deeply questionable move when one considers the endless parade of crooked and pedo cops we're finally learning about. We don't need cops in parliament. We need parliament taking action to clean up the cops.

I wonder if Ani O'Brien considered the potential impacts of "increasingly personal and distressing commentary" before she founded an anti-trans hate group in 2018? Anyway I hope this legal action makes both her and Bradbury absolutely miserable 💅

As a disabled beneficiary I am anxious and frightened by election campaigns that advocate cuts to welfare. TOP is one of those. I could not continue to pay rent and also to eat under their scheme. Hundreds of thousands of others are in this position. Elderly, disabled, sole parents, carers. #NZPol

If the current government are returned to power simply because NZ Labour couldn't be bothered to work out who in the party might be a little less useless and unpopular than their current leader, it will be an absolute tragedy. #NZpol

To the Labour Comms person who's reading this, get Chippy to say: "It barely matters that Luxon demoted Penk, or that he's standing down. Disgraced Ministers always end up back in a National government through the NZ First home for political failures. Let's end this on November 7"

sorry but THIS is how you're doing it? i would be reassessing the campaign at this point. this is an utter failure to understand the political & comms environment Can't even cover all the issues with this email in a single post, & this is only about 1/6th of the text 7 donation links BY THE WAY

I think we just need to come to terms with the fact we don't actually want a Prime Minister. Or a government. In fact, we don't even want to get out of bed.

1News Preferred Prime Minister poll... Luxon on 17%, Hipkins on 15%. Winston: 7; Chloe: 6; Seymor: 5; Erica Stanford: 2; Kieran McAnulty: 2;

i cant underline enough how bad it is for Labour that Hipkins continues to score under or within touching distance of a PM that might be rolled soon if Luxon is replaced, honeymoon should see a 5-10% bump for National - Hipkins position is then even MORE untenable this is purely electoral calculus

In a stunning turn of events Chris Hipkins has been elected National Party leader. "Nobody has worked as hard as I haven't to help this Government in the last three years, and I feel now is the time to be honest about that".
