As it becomes clear that language models—like humans—love passing notes to each other on message boards, I’m starting to think the thing we need to worry about is not the “alignment” of an isolated model but, like, the fluid dynamics of a language slurry.

just got word that an archive of your inner monologue has been leaked on the darkweb. more than two billion shower thoughts, power fantasies, and monologues of what you wish you had said to your crush are being downloaded and put to sinister use by Latvian teen hackers as we speak
One big lesson from the past 10 years, good and bad, is that voters’ views do not form in a vacuum but are shaped by messaging, ideological sorting and straight up bullshit. This is one reason I have been skeptical of the “nobody wants a fight with Canada” reassurances. Many can be made to want it.
Republicans who see Canada as an enemy has leapt up this year, similar to how Republicans’ approval of Putin shot up in 2016. Virtually no anti-Canada US constituency before this year, and virtually no pro-Putin constituency before 2016. Out of nowhere. Now millions say that’s their position.
I would give magnetic resonance imaging its true, correct, and original name: *nuclear* magnetic resonance imaging.

It is funny how the normie definition of “productivity” is the complete and total opposite of the economic one
"Besides being deeply cynical, Chomsky’s supposed pragmatism has not stood the test of time...We may have manufactured consent once upon a time, but America has long since transitioned to a post-manufacturing economy." Very harsh but worthwhile read. strangematters.coop/noam-chomsky...
Chomsky After Epstein - Strange Matters
Noam Chomsky – friend of Epstein, defender of dictatorships – was no model anti-imperialist. Can we do better?

Large portions of the data center backlash are based on moral panic, but the the tech right VC types upset by it are very funny considering how gleeful they were about the demise of ‘legacy’ media. What’s that? You’re missing epistemic gatekeepers who would place complex facts in context? Tough shit
Kids these days can't understand how hard the opening bars of The Macarena hit middle aged white people at the time. Like an MKULTRA sleeper tune to make guys with tucked in t-shirts hit the dance floor
Happy 30-year anniversary to the Democratic National Convention dancing to Macarena

Make your favorite film sound as boring as possible without giving away the title: A chief technology officer is worried about keeping his spreadsheets private.
Wake up, babe. The Prime Minister just dropped “hydronym”.
Canada should get it over with and PNG him.

The most European thing for Canada to do would not be joining the EU but creating yet another bespoke membership status within the organization.

On the one hand you could make such a big mad collage like this. On the other hand you could just sleep in a big bed with your wife.
To be completely honest, I’m not entirely sure what range of opinions I’m meant to represent here

"Lake America" instantly just absolutely clogged with algae. Six uniformed National Guard guys standing on a beach dumping windex into it. It smells like a turtle tank.
We already had a name for security breaches caused by actors immersing themselves in realistic simulations and losing perspective and boundaries, it's called the WarThunder forums.
Again, the lesson for Canada fron the tariffs - but also the EU, the Indo-Pacific and any other region looking to do business with the U.S. - is that the tools have been taken out, this will not end with Trump.
our investment prospectus? that we will invent and enslave god, producing an effectively infinite engine for economic growth our politics? absolute opposition to redistribution of any kind
The “head of strategic futures” at OpenAI just went on an unhinged rant against social security sometimes I feel like these tech companies are actively trying to alienate as many normal people as possible
Not many realize what a feat it is to box the Canadian government out of meekly rolling over for the United States.
#BlueJays win, 4-1. They rolled out their bullpen and a lineup that looked like a Spring Training bus trip in early March… and they took down Cam Schlittler and the Yankees. They’re 61-64.
