sort of feels like every election everywhere in the world is divided equally between a faction of normal people a faction of open evil fascists and gets decided by 5% of the voters who are kicked in the head and completely lose their memory of anything that's happened every two weeks

First results in the first round of the Brazilian Presidential election are in. Lula trailing but looks like the south is reporting faster which skews towards Bolsonaro. That said, prediction markets think this looks good for Bolsonaro (that has signal, unlike prior to vote counting).

It is a very big risk to pin all your hopes for the future on elections in a time when an increasingly powerful and reactionary ruling class is backing far-right candidates with everything they've got. Let's organize so we can keep fighting no matter how the elections go. crimethinc.com/Brazil2026

Brazil is voting today, and while the presidential election is likely to go to a runoff — the results are a clear and significant shift to the right since the 2022 election and set up Flávio Bolsonaro very well to oust Lula in the October 25 runoff.

I remember when there was hot debate within DSA about this kind of thing, and even the advocates for the anti-Zionist resolutions went out of their way to claim that this wasn't what they wanted to happen.

Pretty dark day for the party when the motion looks set to pass despite opposition from MPs and former leaders practically begging not to do this. Crank takeover is complete and the party is lost for now.

I think, more than a lot of things, this whole Gellar thing reveals how fucked up a world in which reputation and the ability to gain attention are some of the most valuable forms of capital.

video of actual Israeli atrocities against Palestinians occupies the same central position in these networks as actual child pornography does in QAnon in that it is both the primary target of condemnation and the primary source of the sexual excitement which drives the movement

Well, I now have more than my gut feeling. It turns out that two recurring accounts have been doxxed ages ago: they are Mark "Enoch" Peinovich and his co-host whose name I forgot 2/2

the idea that immersing yourself in gruesome violence is a technique to build empathy is something which everyone who has ever studied the subject will tell you is not just false but 180 degrees removed from the truth.

I don’t know. I don’t fucking know. Right now I just think it’s more important to keep things focused on how systemically fucked it is that someone can admit to sexual abuse and deal with only a semester suspension versus whether a guy should still be able to make online content without pushback

One of the things that unsettles me the most about the whole Jacob Gellar situation is how much I relate(d) to him. More than basically any other Cis Dude on the planet. Nerdy, gregarious Jew who thinks a lot about video games and social injustice and the nature of consciousness.

Yesterday's news about Jacob Geller broke my heart, so much that I couldn't stop dwelling on it all day. In an effort to make sense of this horrific news and my admittedly complicated feelings about it, here is my article on the Jacob Geller situation: epiloguegaming.com/what-do-we-d...

What Do We Do With Jacob Geller? - Epilogue Gaming

Earlier this week, a friend noticed Jacob Geller’s book, How A Game Lives, sitting amongst my living room shelves. Under almost any other circumstances, this would have been an exciting invitation for...
