I may never stop feeling bitter about this. We tried to speak out in 2018 and it led to months of harassment from DSA members, even national. They tried to expel us after pointing out this abuser’s work with his abusive friends. People even showed up at our jobs. Talked shit to our coworkers.

it once again bears repeating: that platner is even a candidate is because this guy, who was run out of Pittsburgh for recruiting/managing multiple candidates accused of DV/SA, who himself has allegations against him, recruited platner he should be blacklisted until the end of time

I genuinely think that in the future we’re going to look back at this current era of “the internet is obviously deeply broken for everyone, and in response, we’re going to dismantle internet privacy while pretending it’s for the good of children” with deep embarrassment. Rather like Prohibition.

i have absolutely fucking had it with 100% of all of this shit. gambling websites, lies, cryptocurrency, rampant corruption, lies, deep fakes, lies, plagiarism, devaluation of expertise, lies, bile, abuse, violence, bombs, genocides, lies, plutocrats, oligarchs, and lies. fucking enough. rules time

Yeah, I just looked, and it says "paid partnership" at the bottom of that post. If Democrats take the House and/or Senate, they should subpoena these people immediately

SIGHING DEEPLY? Doctors don’t get enough shit for denying people care. She didn’t know how to travel? Did you give her the resources that exist? Is your license more important than her life? Does the hospital not have creative and crafty lawyers?

Charles Ornstein@charlesornstein.bsky.social · 4mo ago

This is just crushing. Emily Waldorf was denied care for a risky miscarriage due to Arkansas’ abortion ban, even after she met the hospital’s CEO, called the governor’s office and got a lawyer. www.propublica.org/article/arka...

I, uhhh, I dunno, I really think there's a social contract theory problem with overruling a popular referendum after it happens because of a slight technical deficiency in the process whereby it was placed before the People

I really wonder what the fallout is going to be because the sanitized version of history they’ve sold for a long time is “Jim Crow was a shameful moment in history but we defeated it and came out the other side a better country” and now it’s just… back it’s the end of a myth in the starkest terms

Breaking: Tennessee Republicans pass new 9-0 gerrymander after SCOTUS destruction of Voting Rights Act eliminating state’s only majority-Black district & last Democratic seat. Splits Memphis, which is 63% Black, into 3 districts to disenfranchise Black voters. Quite literally a return to Jim Crow

this is catastrophically untrue, and the fact that it's even come close to picking up currency on the left is a complete disaster for leftist governance. if you expropriated the entire wealth of every billionaire in the country, you could pay for the federal government for one year. that's it.

Squeaquy@squeaquy.bsky.social · 5mo ago

None of us would need to pay taxes AT ALL if we taxed the billionaires as much as we should. Your simping for them doesn’t change that.

I also cannot stress enough, or enough times, that *a lot* of the anti-gerrymandering work we've been relying on the VRA to do these last six decades would be unnecessary if not for the Uniform Congressional District Act, an even younger federal law that can be repealed and replaced.

3 separate D+10 generic congressional ballot polls were released *just* within the last 24 hours but go ahead and tell me more about how you think our democracy is irretrievably lost because of John Roberts

Remember this every time a Reasonable Democrat says we should be onboard with legal/technical measures to stop minors from accessing adult content Once you create a category of Bannable Speech, you've created a tool for the powerful to ban any speech they want; just put it in the Bannable category.

1. Trump has weaponized the FCC to control the media under his autocratic rule. Now, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr is turning the agency towards his next target: transgender characters in TV shows. He seeks to change the rating system to penalize trans characters. Subscribe to support our journalism.

If the real-world treatment of trans women by the healthcare system was invented for a work of fiction, it would instantly read as an absurdist satire of all the issues with cis women's healthcare. yeah you can get a vagina but only if the doctor thinks he'd want to fuck it afterwards.

And that was where our most advanced bombsight was like, "We can land roughly on a...city, I guess" Today, we can drop a missile through a specific window yet, somehow, keep hitting schoolkids, for wars that serve no existential aim save for the aggrandizement of bloodthirsty old men.

On bluesky, we often have discourse about the strategic bombing of WW2, and like, the large historical consensus is still not entirely sure if strat bombing was a valid wartime tactic - and that was against the most evil empire on the earth that planned to conquer the entire planet and kill everyone
