not being able to move on from a fandom is stunted growth. fandom has gotten weirdly reactionary about this but it’s true. if you can’t let go of characters created by someone suing amnesty international for identifying her as a bigot and need to be told that’s just fine you are not a serious person

I swear to god if one more person goes "and this is why I read HP fanfiction :) I still get my Potter stories but without her!" NO! STOP IT! Even if they aren't financially supporting Rowling you are contributing to the continued existence of the franchise as a fixture of pop culture. Just STOP

Rurouni Kenshin was the first anime fandom I joined. I followed so many live jounrals. I loved it so much. I wrote self insert fanfic of me and Sanosuke. I learned about Meji Japan to understand it better. HEY, guess what I have NEVER EVER TOUCHED since news broke that the creator is a pedophile?

💢 Some 40 Israeli settlers set fire to Palestinian homes in Tuba, Masafer Yatta, Wednesday night, displacing three families, including 14 children. At least two women suffered broken bones, while several other Palestinians, including two children, were wounded.

Settlers also destroyed a solar power system and 10 tons of animal fodder, the U.N. reported.

🔗 Read/watch Drop Site’s report from the West Bank village In the aftermath of the attack below.

➤ Through July, OCHA documented more than 1,380 Israeli settler attacks resulting in casualties, property damage or both, an average of 6.6 incidents per day across 250 Palestinian communities.

➤ More than 2,300 Palestinians were displaced by settler attacks and related access restrictions during the same period.

⚡️ “Because repeated settler attacks have failed to force people to leave, they have now adopted a new method: ending people’s lives in this land by burning their homes.”

Masafer Yatta Council head Nidal Younes told Drop Site contributor Mohamed Awad that more than 40 Israeli settlers attacked Tuba after 9 p.m. Wednesday, attacking homes across the Palestinian village simultaneously.

More than four homes were burned, the remaining homes were vandalized, and residents were beaten with stones and clubs. Five Palestinians required medical treatment.

Younes called it part of an “ethnic cleansing” campaign carried out by settler gangs with Israeli military “support and protection.”

Nasr Nawajah, an activist and head of the Susiya Council, said the assault was “planned” and that Israeli forces and police “effectively enable” such attacks.

“Whenever Palestinians are the victims, the cases are always closed against unknown perpetrators,” he said.

A rare exception to that impunity came Thursday, when Israeli prosecutors charged settler Yinon Levi with reckless manslaughter in the July 2025 killing of Awdah Hathaleen, a Palestinian activist who worked on the Oscar-winning No Other Land, in neighboring Umm al-Khair. B’Tselem says it is the first time since Oct. 7, 2023, that an Israeli has been indicted for killing a Palestinian in the West Bank.

The charge comes after more than 1,380 settler-related attacks across over 250 Palestinian communities in 2026 alone, leaving about 900 Palestinians injured and more than 2,300 displaced, according to UN OCHA.

STOP! You must be SUPER-ONLINE to proceed! #EventsDearBoy 1. FINAL CRISIS (2008, DC) Final Crisis is my favourite event. There are many excellent reasons for saying it isn't the *best*, but it's the one that most fulfils the promise of my first, Secret Wars: an epic story only an event could tell

When I was a kid in the 80s and 90s one of the worst things to discover after your parents went grocery shopping is that they got the store brand stuff. The next month or so was about to be a trip outside of Flavortown. Today I can’t honestly tell the difference between name brand and store brand.

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

air travel is one of those experiences that has gotten monotonically worse over my entire lifetime

question though: has *anything* in the last 40+ years genuinely gotten *better*?

like, there's *more* stuff, sure, but is any of it *better*?

You can/should read Emily Wilson's latest take on the Odyssey, but I'm logging on to convey my hairdresser's reaction. She was AGHAST that Nolan, with his million $ budget, gave Matt Damon ONLY 6 hair extensions. As a result, his hair did not blow around properly, & that ruined the film for her.
