Here’s the latest stop motion animation from my Tiny Angry Witch team. (I’m the writer, I can’t take credit for the animating!) It’s one of our longest, and it nearly drove us all mad, but we’re really proud of getting it made! 1 x Tiny Angry Witch 1 x broom No AI
The most terrifying enshittification I've discovered has been learning that Microsoft Word documents no longer auto-save if you are not saving them to one of their own proprietary cloud services. I'm slapping control-S like it's 1999.
The Fae: so we’re going to take you away from here and— Me: I accept! The Fae: and you won’t remember anything and you will not return for a century— Me: I ACCEPT HARDER
"About 1,375 Olives are pressed to make 1 litre of Olive Oil, 8,435 Sunflower seeds to make a litre of Sunflower Oil . . . don't even get me started on Baby Oil."
I found during lockdown my access to things actually increased. Most of that is gone now
look I actually did like lockdown, for my own perverse reasons (incredible introvert who at the time had zero school-age children and very bad germophobic OCD) but I don't think anybody really has ever argued that lockdowns had NO downsides
Anyway, everything that people rightly lay at the feet of lockdowns for COVID mitigation is not actually a problem inherent to lockdowns themselves, but caused by the declining level of support the government provided for us as they continued because they were ideologically opposed to them.
Clavicular live-streaming coming out of the cinema saying "Chad Ebenezer totally moggs beta cuck Bob Cratchitt and his mid wife leaving Tiny Tim dead-ass washed on Christmas Day".
I don’t care how respected you are as a person, science educator, author, artist, etc. If I find out that you are using generative AI in any aspect of your work, you lose all of my respect.
“I had a million doses of Joker venom that my henchmen and I were prepared to pour into Gotham’s water supply. And the Bat-Man got Commissioner Gordon to stop me from doing that.”
Peter Navarro: "I had a million doses of hydroxychloroquine in warehouses as the defense policy coordinator that I was trying to distribute to hospitals. And Fauci got the FDA stop me from doing that."
Shout out to the man on the train calling his bank about ID theft and who has read his name, postcode, and the long number on his card to the whole carriage.
It's why, incidentally, we're at SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCED RISK OF DEATH FROM ALL CAUSES when medicated. Medicating helps us avoid risky behaviors - but it also helps regulate our basic maintenance behaviors. We can sleep, do things on regular schedules, have healthy intakes of food/water.
ADHD medications use and risk of mortality and unintentional injuries: a population-based cohort study
We assessed the association between the use of medications for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and the risk of all-cause mortality and unintentional injuries leading to emergency depar...

thank goodness they included the reading order so i don't get them mixed up
And then try to live on the fucker, *without* relying on the stored capital in the form of all their existing clothes, what's in their freezers, invites to dinner from lobbyists and pals returning favours, their expensive cars...
The first thing I always think of with Bill Oddie is @b3ta.com and the @rathergood.bsky.social misheard song lyric for Madonna's 'Erotic': "Bill Oddie, Bill Oddie, Put your hands all over my body". www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNvQ...

Does anyone happen to know how many of the "independents" standing for the Clacton by-election are ex/current Reform members? Heard a rumour it might be quite a few and would like sources if possible.
Famously, rich people have no influence on our political system via donations, and are happy to pay vast amounts of tax /s
the ceo of shopify (tobi lutke) wants more votes than you.
Just in case you still use any Basecamp products, DHH is crashing out about his AI product gently pointing out that it’s bad for him to have extermination fantasies about the Roma people.
Watching the Internet starting in the 90s has been like a multigenerational, 100 trillion dollar, galaxy-sized "this is why we can't have nice things."
Absolutely this. We shouldn't be making people download proprietary software to file their tax returns. Surely by offering decent, easy to use apps, HMRC will get more one-time and correct tax returns?
ultimately I think that if HMRC had done its own free software and explained clearly what it wanted from freelancers, I would have been alright with it as such, the whole scheme just feels undercooked and not ready and chaotic for no reason anyway! now I will go have a bath then drink some wine
As usual, @doctorow.pluralistic.net is the tech oracle of the modern era. People whose jobs were “replaced” by AI got fucked, the companies who put all their chips on AI are entering the FO phase of FAFO, and everyone with a 401k is about to get fucked. Yay. pluralistic.net/2026/07/24/s...
As *tech*, AI isn't exceptional. It's not exceptionally wicked. It's not exceptionally good. Take away the accompanying, galactic-scale stock-swindle, and we'd call AI's apps "plug-ins" and we'd use them and abuse them in the same way that we've used every other technology: www.normaltech.ai 1/
Imagine the alternate timeline where Ask Jeeves became the dominant search engine and we’re now being ruled over by a malevolent AI based on a dubious understanding of P.G. Wodehouse.
You would never get the "£50 doesn't even buy a meal quote if the topic was the benefit system, then you would have a guy going "sack of potatoes and a carrot, and you can feed a child for a month at just 3.2 pence per meal"

Just seen a tie-in advert for The AA and Spiderman which made me think: If Thor broke your car would the insurance cover it or would they not pay out due to it being an act of God?
@octopus.energy My IHD and your website seem to be having an issue with energy usage. Online it shows no usage since 2am yesterday and IHD's "Today" shows total of yesterday and todays usage. What could be the fault?
