Welp 🇨🇦

This is so wrong The reason “Trump didn’t steal the elections” is because we & the pro-voter coalition stopped him EIGHT times over the past 21 months Here’s how: a thread (1/x)

Bild

Is Chuck Schumer exciting? No. Does he take risks? Of course not. But do his experience and acumen make him EXACTLY the man democrats need to most effectively wield this unprecedented mandate? Jesus christ, no

There’s still something so depressing and disheartening about how there is almost no congratulatory or prideful discussion among Democrats of electing the first Muslim senator in history because their entire narrative has been wrapped around if he hurt more important peoples’ feelings doing it

Thinking once again about how Democrats decided their message going into 2024 was "actually we hate immigrants more than Republicans". We need a lifetime party ban on anyone making campaign decisions that year.

1/ Dear dozens of new economic populist members of Congress, You’ll face fast pressure to deliver economic results. How to do it? Subpoena CEOs. A shocking amount of time, they'll change what they are doing long before you pass a bill or actually cut off their federal funding. So:

you'd think that given the election results, mainstream outlets might look for Black columnists from the south or Hispanic columnists from the southwest to explain the outcomes, rather than looking for the same conservative white men who they've been using as go tos for the past decade.

I've said it before: even if you were 100% on board with every other thing the Trump admin does, the appointment of this guy should have been a dealbreaker. for anybody. the damage he has done to the public health, domestically and globally, will take generations to repair.

SCOOP: Half of RFK Jr.'s appointees to the US Preventive Services Task Force were allowed to keep investments in pharmaceutical and other medical companies that make products affected by the task force's decisions, according to documents I reviewed.

It is funny that Elon Musk spent nearly half a billion on losing candidates this cycle, but tbf Mike Bloomberg spent an **entire billion** on his extremely failed run for president in 2020 and even so his net worth went UP from $60B to $100B in the six years since. There should be wealth taxes.

Gotta break police unions. The interests of public workers are never gonna be 1:1 with that of the public and that’s mostly fine, sometimes they’ll win sometimes they’ll lose, but you cannot tolerate this shit from a paramilitary organization.

Los Angeles Police Protective League official and LAPD officer Jamie McBride told NBC today: “If Nithya Raman becomes the mayor, the city needs to prepare for Armageddon. She won’t have to defund the police. Police officers will just leave the department.”

Oh, hello! I didn’t see you there. Anyway “healing the nation” by doing nothing has not only never worked, it also always sends the message to evil people that the only consequences they will ever face for selling out their own country will be mild inconvenience

look I’m stoned so I’m gonna be real nice and gentle okay? Everyone who told us it was fine for democrats to run anti-trans ads if it helped them win because “we can demand better after they win”? You better be on that phone to your electeds’ offices every single day. It’s your shift now.

This congress has one job and it’s dragging all these oligarchs and authoritarians to hell until they can’t do damage anymore. Before you fix the house you put out the fire. Before you put out the fire you apprehend the arsonist

THIS. Gerrymandering blocked Dems from gaining unified control over state government in GA, NC, TX, and maybe OH. Nearly 1 in 5 Americans live in those states. Many House races remain uncalled, but my very prelimiary estimate is gerrymandering cost Dems 2 dozen seats—only NC’s map fully fell apart

I said this on @nativelandpod.bsky.social but I'll repeat it here: A dangerous narrative is going to be "the GOP gerrymandering didn't work." NO. It worked GREAT. We just OVERCAME it. But we'd have even MORE seats, and different candidates could have won those seats, without the gerryamndering.

Every metric in Texas including but especially the victory margin in his own race shows Talarico coulda won without throwing trans people under the bus. Every politician that did that, it’s a choice they made because they believe some people are expendable.

Lupita Nihongo@otsumamiboy.blacksky.app · 2w ago

Talarico is on record as willing to compromise when it comes to the rights of trans people. This is important because we have played this game for decades now where the world’s most spineless liberal is defined by their enemies regardless of how much they compromise values & people. So don’t.
