what really enraging is this was the easiest fucking thing in the world to see coming too. like, did people seriously think a bunch of goons throwing innocent people in vans all over the place on tv was gonna be popular?

When will the people who argued in April 2025 that Democrats should stay silent on immigration own up to being frankly just disastrously wrong about the politics of mass deportations? Their punditry basically bordered on enablement

Delaware WFP actually unseat 5 incumbents and won 8 last races overall- awesome night and I hope bodes well for DE progressives in future cycles up and down the ballot I know CT progressives have made strides but I hope progressives in New England look to DE/NYS as a model for state power

2 Dem lawmakers in Delaware have lost to more progressive primary challengers, backed by the DE Working Families Party. —HD16: Pamela Salaam ousts state Rep. Cooke. —SD5: Shay Frisby ousts state Sen. Seigfried. (Frisby was also endorsed by Bernie Sanders & by the DE governor.)

Okay so @defector.com has had an odd glitch since the site redesign a couple of weeks back where the wrong photo and headline are often put together on the main page and I was going to ask them about fixing it but this just happened and as far as I'm concerned they have to leave it as is.

Screenshot for a Defector podcast episode with the headline "Consider the Emotional Lives of Scallops" only the accompanying photo is a white gormless stubbled red-headed UK singer of recent notoriety giving a flat smile to the camera while wearing a washed out peach top as beige as he is against a flat background. So, actually, probably a scallop anyway.

This is a big deal on its own. But hard to overstate the level of fail on Trump's part. He committed various high crimes to boot the old Fed chief and finally appoint his own nepo-by-marriage-Fed Chief, all to get soft money policies. And now his new guy has raised rates. Sad.

The Federal Reserve voted unanimously to raise interest rates for the first time since 2023, even after Trump has continued attacking the the central bank's independence and threatened to stop trade if the Fed didn't lower rates. talkingpointsmemo.com/news/trumps-...

I'm back, I missed you all. Since this is an important subject I know too much about, here's a 🧵 explaining that AI Safety Is Mostly A Sex Cult. I don't think these people should make policy. (1/?) (alternative title: Time For Some Cult Theory)

This Thursday, we're kicking off the ground game for the Regional Transit Measure, with events in each of the 5 counties. There are 50 days until the election. In that time, we need to convince Bay Area voters to invest in public transit! In San Francisco? Come rally and then talk to BART riders!

as a reminder, guys like ryan grim called normie feminists like jill filipovic bigots for saying there are probably good reasons why younger generations of girls & women didn't want to date or marry their peers. teen girls and young women are trapped in a society determined to re-subjugate them.

There is a corner of the internet I had never heard of before I started reporting this story. It’s called the “burnerverse”: a network of anon burner accounts ostensibly discussing college sports. But they have another goal: destroying young girls’ lives.🧵: www.wired.com/story/burner...
