Every article about wildfires and wildfire smoke needs to explicitly connect these climate disasters to burning fossil fuels. If we want to breathe clean air and not have our neighbours' homes destroyed by wildfires, we need to stop using public money to subsidize fossil fuel projects. #bcpoli

Hi there, an educator here. We don’t need training on AI. We know what it is. We’re holding on for dear life until private equity decides to move on to the next shiny thing. I just hope there are enough of us still around to pick up the pieces.

They were sharing an editorial from an American Diabetes Association journal which criticized President Donald Trump’s attacks on America’s long-established system of scientific research.

ICE will no longer publicly report the deaths of immigrants recently released from detention. ICE frames this as "common sense," when in fact, it's an effort to obscure the true number of people who die as a result of being detained—especially now as in-custody deaths surge.

ICE will no longer report deaths of detainees who have recently been released from custody

The goal of the 2021 policy was to ensure that ICE could not avoid accountability for deaths by releasing severely ill people from custody.

I really love this piece by @profjulies.bsky.social published in @msmagazine.com about the right-wing attack on the teaching about gender. @aaup.org Authoritarians are scared of GWSS because it "teaches students they deserve to live their true, autonomous selves." msmagazine.com/2026/04/03/t...

I keep thinking about the fact that prior to the 1930s there were almost no student protests on college campuses. The 30s changed all of that and University administrators LOST THEIR SHIT. They were sending names of students by the 10s of thousands to the FBI. They launched off campus surveillance.

I work in mental health and cannot begin to describe how destructive all this is, especially to those with serious mental health conditions. We desperately need MORE housing, not gatekeeping. Please read below and comment against the monumentally stupid idea.

New from @pamherd.bsky.social and I: Trump has added work requirements to Medicaid, expanded them in SNAP. Now he is going after public housing. You can do something about it: take 5 mins to write a public comment opposing this change. Instructions enclosed.🧵 donmoynihan.substack.com/p/the-trump-...

STATE OF OREGON, et al.,
Plaintiffs,

ROBERT F. KENNEDY, JR., in his official capacity as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, et al.,
Defendants.
KASUBHAI, United States District Judge:
Unserious leaders are unsafe. There is nothing more serious than our leaders' dedication to the rule of law so that we might maintain the integrity of our constitutional democracy. This case highlights a leader's unserious regard for the rule of law. This case demonstrates how disregard for the rule of law does not merely result in an abstract infraction. Rather, and tragically, this case is one of a long list of examples of how a leader's wanton disregard for the rule of law causes very real harm to very real people.
This Court can and does judge the lawfulness of the process (or lack thereof) by which any policy choice might be made. Here, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., unlawfully issued a declaration threatening to cut federal funding to medical providers who provided gender-affirming care to minors. If such a declaration could have been
