This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

Not my real name or birth year. My great-great grandmother’s and my mother’s. Wanted to avoid students searching me/reporting me. Profile picture is my sweet boy.
Trump doesn’t force people to do bad things. All he did was show people they could get away with being horrible if they really wanted to, and a lot of powerful people decided they didn’t need to pretend anymore. Especially those in influential positions who could push back but did not.
I think a critical thing about liberalism is that it requires moral and intellectual labor because it goes against our tribal nature, our innate intolerance, etc. It's a moral adaptation that lets people of different backgrounds and value systems and definitions of happiness co-exist and cooperate/
but this country? the promise of this country? the promise of this country is that it doesn't matter where you're from. it doesn't matter what your blood is. it doesn't matter your race or color or creed or gender or sex. there is a life for you here.
when i say he had "a life well lived" i don't just mean a lengthy career on stage and screen, nor a healthy relationship with an adoring public. i mean he got to be friends with laura dern
We're gonna find out that an hour ago someone placed a $100,000 Polymarket bet that Mitch McConnell would outlive Lindsey Graham
Stupid question. Do Sikhs have a religious exemption? If the black community in the military suddenly mass converted to Sikhism for mysterious reasons, could Hegseth do anything about it?
I am struggling a little to see how this improves lethality or whatever www.stripes.com/branches/nav...
[Me after getting thrown out of a bar] I own this bar, actually
Trump: "The USA will be, from this point forward, known as 'THE GUARDIAN OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT,' but as such, and as a matter of FAIRNESS, will be reimbursed, at the rate of 20% on all cargo shipped, for costs necessary to do the job of providing safety and security ... "
There is only one real American. He lives in a suburb with real american values. He has never had a matcha latte. He is a great favorite. He knows that real education can’t happen at universities. He has never used a laptop. His feet are light and nimble. He says that he will never die.
RIP Bonnie Tyler. And RIP Tandi Iman Dupree. This remains the best stage entrance by a drag queen of all time, even some 25 years later, and the best use of Tyler’s “Holding Out for a Hero” ever. youtu.be/IHQA5vqn6rw?...
Closed out the final day of the Great American State Fair tonight. Here’s a quick video showcasing some of the architecture on its last night.
The media’s language in coverage of sexual violence is so wild compared to any other subject matter. Instead of “it rained” they’re like “Several women allege that they received nonconsentual water upon their persons. We interviewed men they know, who confirmed that the women seemed damp.”
You really get the feeling that for a certain kind of pundit, Platner dropping out is the best possible outcome because now they have a new and fresh ‘stabbed in the back by the DNC’ lost cause to justify being wreckers about
The foundations of StollerThought are 1)chicks suck and 2)it's good when Republicans win elections to own the libs. Platner staying in the race and losing by 12 points would be the exacta
When the weather gets hot, please take special care for the goths in your life. With their floor-length coats, platform shoes, and velvet capes, it’s hard for them to thermoregulate as we do.
stupid libs, calling a guy a Nazi rapist because he has a Nazi tattoo and he raped a woman. for shame!
One minor thing that annoys me personally about this shit is that some people romanticize a blue collar white boy aesthetic but can’t tell an actual working class backwoodser from a rich aspiring dirtbag who went to Hotchkiss
Fuck you.
It's not the Senate Majority Leader's job to go beat the bushes in a rural state to see if he can avert the nomination of a completely terrible candidate. Never, never let the voters off the hook
I think Schumer's inability to convince viable candidates to run against Platner -- candidates who met the moment -- reflects poorly on his leadership. After all, Mills -- an unpopular sitting governor -- lost by 50 points.
A values system that views Pete Buttigieg’s time at McKinsey as disqualifying, but Graham Platner’s time at Blackwater as not, has beclowned itself regardless of the subsequent scandals.
McConnell called me today apparently just to softly sing MOON RIVER and then hang up
honestly this is what anarchists always sound like to me
Why I so dislike liberals: rule bound, censorious, gleefully repressive, unforgiving, elitist, Puritans. I’d vote for Platner before I’d align myself with that.
i'll take a stab at translating this: one of the theorized risks of an outsider movement is that you get more Badly Vetted Candidates, but this year we've had two real huge blowups and one of them was a decade-plus officeholder, so it's not just an outsider thing
I’ve avoided a lot of the Platner discourse because it’s a toxic tarpit, but I think the notion that the lesson here is primarily about either one political faction or something essential about “unvetted” newcomers, sits in some considerable tension with the entire Eric Swalwell experience.
had an Algerian Uber driver yesterday, asked him who he liked in the match, he said "well, the French killed my grandfather, but I really don't like Moroccans."
Like most such people in this sub-tendency, Platner himself is downwardly mobile from an upper middle class family and seeks a variety of conspiracies and groups to blame for it, despite his failures being very obviously his own doing.
The Platner mess has exposed a very specific sub-tendency on the American socialist left: urbanites whose politics are defined by their hatred of their liberal neighbors, and channel that distaste into a condescending fetishization of rural/working-class male identity
one side's voters care about sexual assault and one side's voters don't and while I understand that "impossible to say whether this is good or bad" is the standard for the paper of record I think it's clear which side has the moral high ground here
#BrokenTimes: "Republicans have taken a different tack.... It is a question on which the left and right have largely diverged"
Flavor Flav shared that he’s secured “the tickets, the glam, wardrobe” for the entire US women’s hockey team to attend the 2026 ESPY’s. In an update, Paris Hilton is now covering the hotel rooms for every player. Talk about a bunch of words I never thought I’d say.
I don’t really have anything to add to the discourse that isn’t already being said but a lot of people I thought were shitty have proven it and we should be keeping tabs on who is being shitty so we don’t listen to them in the future.
