Seattle bike ridership had a record-breaking summer. 🚲 That is why ungapping the map matters: every new connection makes the entire bike network more useful, comfortable, & accessible. The numbers show people want to bike. Let’s keep removing the gaps in our network & make it possible citywide.

Seattle had record-breaking bike traffic over the summer. What’s behind the numbers?

More people than ever biked around Seattle this summer — and one cycling advocate says this could be just the beginning of a new normal in the city.

We live in an incredible place. I am proud that our city was recently named one of the top five in the world by Oxford Economics using the five criteria of Economics, Human Capital, Quality of Life, Environment, and Governance.

Text over the bottom portion reads, ‘Seattle Ranked 4th Best City in the World by Oxford Economics,’ alongside the Mayor’s Office logo.Graphic titled ‘2026 Global Cities Index’ with a subtitle reading ‘Ranking the world’s 1,000 largest cities.’ Below, a bar chart lists the top 10 cities by overall score: New York, London, Paris, Seattle, San Francisco, Dublin, Boston, San Jose, Tokyo, and Zurich. Each bar is color-coded by region: US & Canada, Europe, and APAC.

Lives don't happen just between 9 and 5. Hear how King County Metro and elected leaders across our region are working to create the all-day network riders dream of and how #WeekWithoutDriving can help us understand the needs of those of us who rely on transit.

People can be made so completely dependent on drugs, that they perceive those drugs to represent “freedom” for them. But can anything you’re that dependent on really make you “free?” That seems like a really warped defination of freedom. Now replace “drugs” with “cars.” Discuss. #CarDependency

Its been a rough time for the small businesses of Capitol Hill. Lets support them this Thursday. Come for free popsicles, stay for takeout, a band, a nice time shopping!

Who do you want to have the final say on street safety projects in historic districts: 1) The Seattle Department of Transportation’s Chief Transportation Safety Officer Or 2) Historic boards SDOT could consult historic boards to ensure a continuity of character without giving them a veto on safety

Just this year, the Pioneer Square Preservation Board blocked SDOT's proposal to prevent illegal car parking and improve safety and accessibility at 18 intersections in Pioneer Square. These intersections have a history of crashes, and SDOT knew how to make them safer, but were not allowed to.

Pedestrianizing Barbara Bailey Way, that stretch bordering the north end of Cal Anderson park where the Sunday Famers Market sets up, would be an easy way to improve the neighborhood. If you’re already there for your market goods on 9/27, stop in and tell @transportation.seattle.gov we want this.
